Our Lady of Weight Loss is all about having fun. Anything for a laugh! Lightness personified! And to that end, she has discovered the best Halloween decoration ever!
Toilet Tattoos® ... toilet lid embellishments that are removable, reusable and wipe-able clean! You can transform your toilet for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or just for the heck of it. A gazillion toilet lid designs to choose from including but not limited to floral, holiday, whimsical themes, and all you do is peel it off, smooth it on!
I just shipped some to my kids who are having a Halloween party! (Do you think that's enough of a bribe to get invited?!) Anyway, they are $9.95 each and considering the fact that they are reusable, not a bad deal!
For those of us who love to snuggle in, hunker down and watch a good flick, I've got some interesting information to share with you.
University of Mississippi researchers found that 'movie munchers' ingested 28% more buttered popcorn when watching "Love Story" than those who watched the comedy "Sweet Home Alabama." (that's an extra 115 calories)
A Vanderbilt University study found that laughing out loud for 10-15 minutes per day burns between 10 and 40 calories. A good belly laugh causes one to gasp for air, thus exercises the diaphragm!
One group of University of Maryland volunteers were shown funny videos, while another group was shown stressful videos. The study showed that laughter keeps arteries from hardening, while stress does the opposite!

Drop Dead Diva, starring the uber-talented and lovely Brooke Elliott, premiered on Lifetime last night, and let me say right up front, this Beliefnet.com blogger LOVED IT! I mean, who doesn't love a good transformation!
The Premise: Deb, a blonde, size 0, vapid, aspiring model crashes her top-down sports car into a truck that is transporting oranges. The visual of Deb and her car buried in thousands of oranges adds a colorful and 'light' touch to her death.
That's right - Deb dies, and through divine intervention (they should have brought Our Lady of Weight Loss in on this one), she is transported into smart, giving, kind lawyer Jane's size 16, frumpy body. It's 2 cups of Freaky Friday, plus 3 cups Legally Blonde with a shake of Heaven Can Wait and a pinch of Hairspray (the fat girl ultimately wins the guy).
And sure, just as you would expect, Drop Dead Diva utilizes the lame idea that all size 16 girls are smart, frumpy and kind (NOT!) and all size 0 girls are shallow, mean and dumb (NOT!), to establish a plot line. I don't think the show will ultimately change how people feel about being 'fat,' nor do I think the show is going to create a donut shortage (although I confess that plate that was calling out to Jane was whispering my name, too), or an increase in gym memberships (wow, did you see the tone and definition in Jane's clients' arms?).
Drop Dead Diva, at its heart is charming, 'light' comic fare - a romanic chick-flick-series if ever there was one. Escapism, fun, and fashion friendly.
Set Your Table for Change!
Here are some great fat melting tips from Our Lady of Weight Loss's Arsenal for Mass Reduction ... and an excellent excuse (or reason) to go shopping!
Use dark, small plates! Studies show that people will eat whatever is put in front of them and, in fact, they are actually left feeling more satisfied when using salad sized plates instead of dinner plates. In addition, using dark plates diminishes appetite.
In keeping with the 'keep me in the dark' theme, opt for a dark blue or black tablecloth or place-mats.
Use tall, skinny drinking glasses (vs. short and wide glasses). Researchers at the University of Illinois found that we will pour less into tall, skinny glasses than short and wide glasses, even though they hold the same amount of liquid.
Fill two vases with fresh flowers. The first for your dining room table - to create a beautiful and relaxing experience. Choose flowers that delight and feed your soul. The second one should be filled with fresh RED flowers and placed in the entrance to your home. The red flowers with infuse you with energy upon entering and inspire you to cook up something fabulous on your clean stove. (It is clean, isn't it? Clean stoves give off good energy.)
Candles are always a nice touch for the table. Watch the flames flicker. Hypnotize yourself. "I am feeling quite sated now with one perfectly sized plate of delicious food."
