Ja Georg! Was kann es Schöneres geben? Was kann größer, begeisternder sein, als für die Verbreitung des Wortes des Lebens in der Welt zusammenzuarbeiten, als das lebendige Wasser des Heiligen Geistes zu bringen? Die Freude verkünden und bezeugen: das ist der zentrale Kern eures Auftrags, liebe Diakone, die ihr in wenigen Augenblicken Priester werdet. Der Apostel Paulus nennt die Diener des Evangeliums »Diener der Freude«. Den Christen von Korinth schreibt er in seinem zweiten Brief: »Wir wollen ja nicht Herren über euren Glauben sein, sondern wir sind Helfer zu eurer Freude; denn im Glauben seid ihr fest verwurzelt«. Dies sind programmatische Worte für einen jeden Priester. Um Mitarbeiter an der Freude der anderen zu sein, und das in einer oft traurigen und negativen Welt, muß das Feuer des Evangeliums in euch selbst brennen, muß in euch die Freude des Herrn wohnen. Nur dann könnt ihr Boten dieser Freude sein und sie vervielfältigen, indem ihr sie allen bringt, vor allem denen, die traurig und entmutigt sind.
