Iranians seize 6,500 Bibles, burn 300, claim they are protecting youth

posted by Rob Kerby, Senior Editor | 10:35am Thursday August 18, 2011

Iranian authorities have seized 6,500 copies of the Bible in northwest of Iran. In another incident, officials burned 300 Bibles.

A spokesman said the Bibles were confiscated to block missionaries who “are trying to deviate our youth.”

Dr. Majid Abhari, adviser to the social issues committee of the parliament in Iran, told the official Iranian news agency, Mehr, “With regard to the activities of these Christian missionaries to deceive people specially youngsters, they have begun a huge campaign by spending huge sums and false propaganda for deviating the public. These books were made with the best paper in the world in pocket size.”

“The important point in this issue that should be considered by intelligence, judicial and religious agencies,” said Abhari, according to Mohabat News, “is that all religions are strengthening their power to confront Islam, otherwise what does this huge number of Bibles mean?”

Mohabat News also reported that last November, police officers and revolutionary guards seized 300 Bibles from a bus and “in a shameful action, burned them all in the village of Darishk.”

Mohabat News calls itself a team of Farsi-speaking news professionals. “The Lord has placed in our hearts,” they state on their website, a burden ”to bring awareness of what is happening in the world to our Farsi-speaking readers in “Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan” – and “to better inform the worldwide Church of Jesus Christ and Christian ministries around the world about the life and the welfare of Christian minorities in these Farsi-speaking countries.”

Whether we choose to believe it or not, the Arab Moslems can never be at peace with we Christians. Every love and compromise they show are STAGE-MANAGED. THEY DO NOT BELIEVE WE HAVE RIGHTS.

Iran can burn the bibles but that cannot stop the truth between its covers. During the reign of terror, France did the same act but the consequences that followed was really grave.

Christians are peaceful people, but if it was a Koran that was burnt; you could have heard the threats of death coming from the Muslim world. Burning the bibles is a fight against the Almighty God, we just have to leave that to HIM.They will regret one day but it will be too late.

May God have mercy on them so that they can accept the truth of the Bible.

The people of Iran the police and other liked officals are hiding something. That is that they are afraid of the bible and wqhat it says. The Christians are not trying to destory their youth. But I think to inform them (the youth and adults ).Because both sides need to learn. The God of Isalm is different then the God of the bible. What has the God of Isalm done ? Has he walk on water , healed the sick, made a blind man see?I do not believe so. But God of all gods have done many things and yet still take the time to love his people . The farsi people are different from the Hebrew speaking and yet have different ideas and opinions on some things.

For some there is a lack of knowledge of some of the inner city people and the the folks who live in the country in the mountains or an area that is not have city views. There are a lot of folks out there here something and take for a fact and go down with America. Hey if wasn’t for the America oil companines that came to Iran to etract the oil or teach Iran to get it out. And the bible came too. I ask the Iran officals WHAT ARE YOU REALLY AFRAID OF? aFRAID THAT GOD COULD DESTROY YOU?

People destroy because it is the easiest thing to do. Our two year old grandson breaks things and hits because it is the easiest thing to do. It is far more challenging to reach out peacefully and make a difference. All religions are about learning to reach out peacefully, growing, and making a difference. Two quotes that come to mind are “The meek shall inherit the earth” and “The best form of revenge is not to become like your enemy.” I guess the natural thing for most people would be to run out and buy Qu’rans to burn–that’s because it would be easy. I say it is sad that the Iranians’ position is so weak that they must destroy all competition and not face the challenge.
