23rd Psalm – Jeff Majors and Don Jones performing at Coretta Scott King’s Funeral
With sadness and loss, comes beauty. Jeff Majors and Don Jones set the 23rd Psalm to music at the funeral of Coretta Scott King. Though this recording is raw, the emotions coming through are anything but. Prayables picks this fully rich version of the beloved psalm.
Psalm 23 – A Psalm of David
The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want;
He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
My soul He doth restore again,
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff my comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished me
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me;
And in God’s house forevermore,
My dwelling place shall be.

Dear Don,
I just learned that you joined the heavenly choir by an untimely death in 2010.
Several times I have recalled the beauty that you possessed as a fellow student and spiritual guide. Never will I forget how generous you shared your personality and spirit among us.
In loving memory and mourning the great loss inflicted by ignorance and meanness.
From Germany I sent my heartfelt greetings due to the sorrowful occasion, remembering you who made the day bright as his joyful eyes searched for perfection in music.
