Prayer for Lonely People

posted by nsymmonds

As news continues to unfold about George Sodini’s struggle with loneliness, I can’t help but think there are so many people in the world just like him. People who live reclusive lives not because they want to, but because somehow they feel unloved and the one solution to their problem is love. As I mentioned yesterday in my prayer for Sodini’s victims and his family, I feel this is a call for all of us to be in prayer for our brothers and sisters who are in the grips of loneliness. To help this along I wanted to post a prayer that I discovered in the Beliefnet prayer library:

Prayer for Lonely People

Loving God,
there are times in each life
when there is no one.
No one with whom to share
a word,
a laugh,
a sad remembrance,
a gentle touch,
a fond embrace,
a kiss of love.
Bless each one who suffers
from such loneliness.
Enrich life with a friend
or gentle stranger
who will spend a moment
noticing
and loving.
In those times
your love shines through,
the world is reborn,
and Christ is known.
So be it!
Amen.

People don’t have to be lonely. As a Black Falcon, I feel that, as I walk into someone’s life, I enrich it. I bring that person joy, and give them a taste of magnificence. Perhaps this is the creator’s intent for creating the Black Falcons

The prayer is a nice sentiment. Doing all the right things does not guarantee that you will find others to appreciate or even care about you. Bitterness is not the answer but a prayer that helps might do the trick. God love and appreciate even when no one else does

I loved the prayer I wish people would remember that you are never alone God is always with you. There are times when I am lonely wish had someone to talk to but then I just start talking and I can feel someone is listening and if you listen you will hear a small still voice. When God said he will never leave you are forsake you he meant it. But you have to believe it so if thei is someone out there who feels like sodini, then stop look around you are not alone you have to make up your mind t open up to God and he will send human friends t your life but do not leave him out because he is always there.

I printed this prayer and sent it to his home address for his family to see. That they are not alone. This tragedy has moved me beyond words and I now know why. May soemthing good come of this tragedy if god is willing. God does move in strange ways and sometimes he does let you know what he has planned for you when you least expect it.

God will never leave you nor forsake you. Stand in expectation if you are lonely that you will not remain that way. Let God use you to enhance someone else’s life or situation. Overcome your loneliness that way….Its hard, I know it…because I am there and I have been there before. But as soon as you start relying on man or the superficial benefits of this world and those things diminish….you forget God is was in the joy and He is in the trouble! Rely upon him at all time and not the joys of this world.
