posted by nsymmonds | 4:50pm Sunday February 7, 2010

At about 11:30 this morning, an explosion occurred at an under-construction power plant in Middletown, Connecticut. Details have been ever-changing in regards to the injuries and fatalities caused by the explosion. Currently, the number of casualties is at 13. Please join us as we pray for the family and friends of those affected by this explosion.

Heavenly Father,

With numbers and reports constantly fluctuating in regards to the casualties of the Middletown, Connecticut power plant explosion we come to you seeking clarity. We come to you because your report is the only one that we know we can believe. In this time of uncertainty for the residents of Middletown, Connecticut and the surrounding areas, I pray that you would create an atmosphere of calmness and faith. Let people not be anxious for anything every time a new report is released. But may they just rely on your peace which passes all understanding. For those who have been taken to area hospitals, I pray that you would be Jehovah Rophe, the God who heals stitch by stitch. Cover the doctors, nurses and other hospital employees as they receive those affected by the explosion. May they not be overwhelmed, but may they use the gifts that you have given them to serve in excellence and with love. May you grant patience and peace to every person who is waiting for news regarding their loved ones. Be in the midst of the people of Middletown, Connecticut and all the surrounding areas, We do not yet know what the bigger impact of this explosion will be, but we pray in the name of Jesus that it will not be more than anyone can bear. We believe in your efficacy God and pray that all who would, would open their hearts and hands to those affected.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

A search and rescue operation is being carried out for workers who may have been buried in rubble.Nobody seems to know exactly how many people were on the site and it’s posing difficulties for authorities trying to work out how many casualties there are.

This is such a tragic event. Let’s all pray together for the safety of all surviving victims and for the souls of those who died. May this never happen again. This should serve as a lesson to all companies that don’t take safety seriously.
