Pray for Egypt!

Thousands of anti-government protesters swarmed the battered streets of central Cairo today, demanding that President Hosni Mubarak step down. The mods are attacking police as the Cabinet resigned.

Mubarak has pledged reform and has dismissed his government but the actions have done little to cool the anger venting over Egypt’s crushing poverty, unemployment and corruption. The five days of protests are the most serious in decades. Even now crowds are overwhelming police forces in Cairo and other cities.

“God, bring change, justice and peace to Egypt. Poverty and oppression is never your will. Things do need to change in Egypt. But let your hand Bring calm and patience and order and wisdom in the process. Resist those who would abuse this disorder and use it for their own ends. Focus the passions for change on mercy, boldness, courage, and calm resolve. Bring peace to Egypt. Preserve the lives of the innocent and the weak. Keep Egypt a safehaven in a world of terror. It will take a miracle, but you do miracles. In Jesus…”
