Moderate Islam Makes Inroads Via Satellite

Saturday January 3, 2009

Categories: Muslims

Surf the TV or press seek on the radio -  if you find a religious station in America you can be sure it is preaching a very conservative message in sincere dulcet tones.  This story from the New York Times about moderate Islam making inroads on satellite TV will hopefully be good news for the future of Islam as well as inspire some more moderate or even progressive Christian broadcasting in the West.

I believe "moderate Islam making inroads ..." is both very encouraging and about time. I have watched for years the world castigating westerners for their racial profiling and tendency to group all Muslims as guilty of war and terrorism.
It is high time the Muslim community made itself clearly different from the bomb-throwers. While I agree that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful and mean well, they have not preached their separation from the terrorists clearly and loudly. This must change if we are to expect xav8hr"more moderate or even progressive Christian broadcasting ...."

There are moderate Muslims who believe that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a forgery created by the Russian Czar's secret police force in the early 1900s, is true. I'm not sure that "moderate Islam" is enough. Antisemitism pervades the Arab and Muslim world, secular and Islmic so completely that I'm not sure where to start.
