President Obama holds White House Gay Pride Reception

Wednesday July 1, 2009

Categories: Homosexuality
If you haven't seen this it will hopefully give you confidence that no matter what people say, our President is on the side of the LGBT communities.  The President's great line was about Stonewall in 1969 saying "That night, nobody could have imagined that 40 years later you, or me, would have been here (in this White House) today."  Thank God for progress.

Real purty words. Now, howzabout some action. Specifically:

DOMA
DADT
ENDA

Or, doesn't the Constitution apply to gay Americans?

It gave me hope.
The real hurdle is, very simply, that human rights should not ever be voted upon. They should be anchored in basic decency.

Well, at least he threw the gauntlet down in front of the christianists. There's no backing down now.

With 60 votes in the Senate, I do expect more than just words now.

We have waited decades for the Republicans and the fund-a-crites to back themselves into this corner. We won't get this chance again soon.

If he really wanted to help gay men and women, President Obama would assist in getting gay marriage legal in all 50 states and end the stupid “don’t ask, don’t tell” rule.
I see this as a simple empty gesture and nothing more.

President Obama could do one thing and do it tight now. He could simply order the firings in the military to stop. Period. He has that authority, and until he can look Dan Choi in the face, he is NOT the president of all Americans.

Why don't you do it since you think he can't?
