What a cool thing! I have posted this on my fb page and added Kari’s blog to my blogroll! I have no idea how I could manage a mission trip with my two kiddos, but if God wants me to do it, he’d make it work!

I emailed this to my friends & added the blog. This is such an awesome opportunity! I’ve been pleading with God for many years to send me on a missions trip to Africa. He keeps saying, “no”, or at least not now. :)

Hi Kari,
First of all, I have been so encouraged by both you and HopeChest and your care for orphans. My husband and I got the Valentine’s shirts last year. Maybe I’ll win a new shirt this year. We are also currently praying about adopting and trusting God to provide for that. It is going to be exciting to see how He works. For my entry: I tweeted about this giveaway and now I’m sharing with you here why I’d love to go on this trip to Ethiopia… We used to live in Africa, working as missionaries. We had to come back to N. America b/c of some needs our daughter had. It has been four years since we left Africa and I’d love to return for a visit. Although we lived in West Africa and not Ethiopia, I’m sure the children and adults I’d meet in Ethiopia would remind me of the friends I’m missing.
Thank you for the encouragement!

I read about the contest and haven’t entered because I have so many reasons why God can’t possibly send me there. But that is my thinking, not His. I know that if He wants me to go there, I will get there. Of course if I don’t enter, I guess I’m telling Him that I know already that He won’t send me. I truly have a love for orphans! I’m actually married to one, I financially support them and am trying to get my church to support them by hosting an Orphan Sunday on November 7. No matter how many excuses I come up with (I can’t take the time off work, etc)that burning desire in my chest isn’t going away… I just put it on my Facebook.

Hey Tom,
After hearing you and your team speak at Asbury University chapel last month I have been constantly thinking about going on a vision trip with your team. When you came I had the pleasure of speaking to you about missions in Ethiopia and what that would look like. I have never gone on a missions trip before, and I think it would be great to go back to my home country and learn how to reach out to my people. I graduate from college this Dec. still having no idea what the Lord is leading me. This trip would help me know if missions or international work is where I am truly called. Thank you both for putting together this amazing opportunity. This is not only an amazing opportunity, but incredible financial blessing!
His servant,
Medhanit G. Amanuel (Monica)
