One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

thanks for the link. i find it despicable what slime lurk on that hate-monger’s site. so many people who try to downplay that water boarding is torture. tell me that’s not the typical rightie.no wonder they still support this administration’s brutal tyrannical tactics. can there really be 3 in 10 people who think this is ok?what’s the mentality? if you can’t beat them (terrorists), join them?

I certainly don’t support torture (and I would include waterboarding) but I’m sorry, the video undermines the case that it’s torture because if a protester can survive it, it must not be that bad.

I can’t watch that and Malkin is trying to desensitize us to it.You saw this one …“we parse the meaning and definition of ‘torture?’ … we live in an age when a familiarity with torture techniques is to be expected of our leaders.”And, now, of our citizens.

That’s the problem with torture, it makes us all less human, less compassionate.

i don’t disagree. but i would hardly expect “code pink” to know how to properly waterboard anyone. really. besides, i don’t think they needed to properly torture anyone to make their point.and i think that you miss that torture doesn’t have to result in death (“the video undermines the case that it’s torture because if a protester can survive it, it must not be that bad”). do they have to die for torture to be bad or for them to make their point?moonshadow is 100% correct regarding malkin. and it seems that there are a majority of visitors there who are already desensitized to it. too many episodes of 24? quite sickening and telling of their mentality.

I think that Malkin already reflects a general acceptance of that type of interrogation. Maybe she really doesn’t view it as torture, some do not since our military are trained to withstand torture by doing it. Though, this is just an observation not a defense. I don’t this or any other method to elicit information. I believe there are other methods that can be used. And the protesters undermine the horror of the act by engaging in it. They have become the objects of ridicule and I can’t see that helping their cause.

waterboarding isn’t common training for our soldiers in general, so i don’t see how that could excuse it to her. in fact, that training for special forces, is for them to withstand “torture”, so she should be pretty clear exactly what this is.actually, i think that she has taken a disgusting position with the sole purpose of attacking democrats and trying to belittle the protesters. purely a partisan attack.“They have become the objects of ridicule”well they’re certainly the objects of ridicule to the likes of malkin and her flock. but that was the case before this incident and again, i have to question the mentality of the groupies on her site.

No, not just her site but many other places on the internet.
