Would anyone actually expect 2 people to live in anything less after 40 years of preaching? I'm sure he can still help the poor area of Chicago (where the church is located) from his 10,000 plus square foot house.

Maybe that's what the $10 million line of credit is for, to give it away to the poor. And maybe he's got a special room set aside for the homeless.

How many preachers after 40 years of preaching (not counting the evangelicals who rip folks off on TV and already live a lavish lifestyle on other people's money or "donations") are able to "retire" to a gated community in a mansion? I really don't think regular ministers go into the business for the $$.

From what I understand, Wright has been living this lavish lifestyle for many years now. The man has wanted for nothing, yet he complains. Go figure.

"are able to "retire" to a gated community in a mansion?'

If he wrote best selling books, he might be able to retire comfortably. This seems to be a payment from his church which makes me think of trying to hide connections to the money or at the very least, they wanted to give him a very nice send off :-)
