I noticed this in the article about Republican crossover voting and I couldn’t help but note that this is guy is voting against his own interest. If he wants a change, he’ll get it under Obama because he will lose all the tax cuts that he enjoyed while Bush was president.
Donald Durrah, 65, lives on Wade Park Avenue just two doors down from Democrat and U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones – one of Clinton’s most ardent supporters.
It’s hasn’t been easy being one of the few Republicans in the neighborhood, said Durrah.
But for decades, he believed the Republicans represented his interests, particularly since he was a small businessman. In recent years, Durrah said that’s changed.
He hasn’t liked the Republican presidential choices.
Then this winter, Obama’s message caught his ear.
Obama talked about hope and the future, Durrah said, and “I wanted to participate in that change.”
I’m amazed that a small businessman in Ohio would work to disadvantage himself in such a weak economy. (Should I make the joke about change? I’m really tempted to do it but I’ll refrain since I’m sure you guys (this time I do mean Reformed Chick readers not Democrats — just thought I would make it clear for the commenters who get confused by this stuff) have heard it already).

Cults have strange effects on people. There was some fellow back in the last century that managed to turn very nice, civilized people into absolute maniacs and had big rallies and made very good speeches.

Obviously, since this post implies that Obama is not the solution to all the world’s problems, and the Messiah to boot, it is racist.

Hi Michele;
What amazes me is how little airtime the US debt and deficit is getting in the election so far.
Also Obama and Clinton are certainly not making any friends north of the boarder with their NAFTA comments.

Just pointing out the obvious, babe! And the obvious is that he will lost the tax breaks he got under Bush.
Livingsword, haven’t you heard? Obama’s campaign reassured Canada that he was only saying that to get votes.
McCain has brought up spending a lot since his trying to reform earmarks.

livingsword, who gives a rat’s hairy butt what canada thinks of our candidates? mind your own elections for a change.
zz, really, who is the raZZist? you are the one who makes race the numero uno issue here. think about it.
michele, i’m a small business owner. i, too, will lose bush’s worthless tax breaks. however, my business does better when people have money to spend. bush’s tax breaks haven’t seriously helped anyone making under $250K.

You are wrong, they have helped us and I don’t look forward to paying more when the Democrats take over.
And if you are that clueless that you think that taking more money from tax payers will help your business, then you deserve the business you will be losing.

i’m wrong? oh i forgot, great omnicient one! you know all, don’t you?!
hardly, and your arrogance is astounding! maybe the tax cuts helped you, so please, tell us what you did with your precious tax cut that helped you so much. share with the rest of us the stories of your family and every family or individual you know that bush’s tax cuts helped – everyone that you consider “us”.
it’s a drop in the ocean. my family didn’t benefit from it one bit, nor did my business, nor did any one of my friends. stop pretending that you know what works best for me, sister.
democrats have come up with a budget plan that will once again balance the budget (something the country has not seen since bush took office) by simply letting bush’s tax cuts to expire. republicans offered their own plan which keeps bush’s corporate welfare and benefits for the rich which will not only keep us in the red, but worsen the problem to the tune of $130 billion by 2012 and $160 billion by 2013, even after slashing programs like education, housing, medicaid and medicare. what a joke.
tax cuts haven’t balanced the budget, they haven’t reduced the deficit, they haven’t paid for the war, they haven’t stopped growing unemployment, they haven’t stopped foreclosures, they haven’t relieved record energy costs, they haven’t alleviated exuberant medical costs, they haven’t stopped the recession and they haven’t raised the quality of living for the middle class or poor.
