I find it hard to believe that the Bush administration has anything to do with the DC cops. How convenient that you people ignore the fact that the cops are under the control of Democrats.
"I thought that, as a proud conservative, you'd be happy with the exercise of our new police state."
You are ignorant of conservatism if you think we support police states. We don't, we believe in individual liberty.

The DC police and the 16 other police forces in Washington (Capital, National Park, FBI, Secret Service, college campus, Metro, etc. etc. etc.) all operate under the federal, especially with regard to the anything involving security or the monuments, which are operated by the federal Park Service. Everyone is entitled to her own opinion, Michele, but no one is entitled to her own facts. Please make a few phone calls before making such a claim. "Hard to believe" is all the more reason you should check it out. Please do not perpetuate falsehoods. You owe your readers better.

If it's the Park Service cops, who have jurisdiction over the monuments, they report to the President. It is a Federal agency.

The Park Service cops, who have jurisdiction over the monuments, report to the President. It is a Federal agency. And even the DC police are subject to the Federal rules on arresting demonstrators (which under the very strict Federal regulations going back to the Reagan administration, which was the first to clamp down, can include dancing).
You have a lot of good thoughts to make, Michele. I wish you were not so quick to name-call and assume.
