Obamunists or Obamanoids

posted by Susan Johnson | 6:23am Friday April 11, 2008

So, I was trying to think of a name to call you Obama kool-aid drinkers and I couldn’t think of anything I liked and then I visited Campaign Spot and found out that Frank J. was trying to do the same thing. Talk about great minds and all that.
So, I like Obamunists and Obamanoids. What do you guys think?
Or how about this one: Obamanarians. I kind of like that one. I’m going to have a hard time deciding (I think it will probably come down to which one I’ll remember when I’m writing a post).
BTW, for you people who think that we on the right came up with the whole messiah thing, we didn’t and we’re not the only ones weirded out be it. Here’s a lefty Obama supporter:

I’m getting increasingly weirded out by some of Obama’s supporters.
On listservs I’m on, some people who should know better – hard-bitten, not-so-young cynics, even – are gushing about Barack, raving about his “game-changing” politics, about his “power to inspire,” about how they wept while viewing the now-famous Dipdive video, and on and on… This sounds more like a cult than a political campaign. The language used here is the language of evangelical Christianity – the Obama volunteers speak of “coming to Obama” in the same way born-again Christians talk about “coming to Jesus.”

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out
