Evidently, there are problems with the upgrade:
The latest service pack for Windows XP continues to cause problems for users. According to an online user forum, the latest glitch in Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) causes problems with the remote desktop access feature of Windows Home Server.(via)

We've had some people upgrade here at my office without issue, but do you really want to be a beta tester for Microsoft? :)
It's not usually bad to wait a bit for them to get the bugs out.

I have been an Microsoft user for many, many years now and the thing that you learn early on is that you have to wait awhile before you install any of their software. I wouldn't be the one standing in line to receive the first release of their products :-)
They are notoriously bad about letting their customers be their beta testers. No thanks! If I'm going to be a beta tester, pay me for it.
The most serious problem in SP3 is that it disables active X which means no online videos unless you switch to firefox, which is what I did.
I didn't ever realize they were still releasing service packs for XP. I thought they'd stopped support.
I loaded Service Pack three. I had no problems and some of my games run a lot better. No Glitches, no pain, no problem..
Loading was a lot like service pack 2.. A bit of a wait but otherwise no a problem at all.
