By a Land Cruiser driven by her brother:

THE five-year-old daughter of Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman has been killed by a four-wheel drive driven by her brother.
Authorities in Tennessee say the girl, Maria, was hit in a driveway at the family home yesterday south of Nashville and died later in hospital.
The Toyota Land Cruiser was driven by the girl’s teenage brother, Tennessee Highway Patrol spokeswoman Laura McPherson said.

Join me in praying for the family as they deal with this tragic event.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Oh, that is just awful. The poor brother must feel terrible. Let’s all pray that they can get through it. Something like this can be a family-killer.

This certainly can split families. I once served on a jury where a mother was suing a father who had backed over their son and killed him. The boy’s brother was in the vehicle with dad, and the mom (who divorced dad after the accident) was suing the father for the cost of therapy for the surviving brother, claiming it was his fault the boy needed the help.
The Chapmans needs to be covered in prayer for some time to come. They have given so much of their lives to the Christian music community. It’s time to return a small portion of that to them.
Thank you for posting this, Michele.

Please also pray for those who will be caring for the Chapman family, and their home church. There is a need to ballance informing the congregation of events, while protecting their privacy, as they are, to some extent, a well known family.

That has to be just horrible, for the parents, and for the sibling who was driving. I wish their family the best during this time.
