One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

I hate stuff like this … exploiting our affiliations in an attempt to influence our reaction.
I listened to today’s Hear and Now on NPR. Listen to the first five minutes of it, especially the last 30 seconds of the piece:
“No, we don’t seem to have too much leverage. And I think around the world there’s also a sense that the United States leaders, and this is in both parties, tend to mislead the public, that we can drill our way out of this, we can use the bully pulpit to get a little bit of extra production and we talk about energy independence.
We’re not gonna have energy independence, particularly on the oil side, until it’s preceded by some energy or some oil discipline. And we really still are quite undisciplined in the way we use fuel.
I really like the bit about drilling our way out. I’m sure you do too.
