The focus group response to McCain's global warming ad

Oh.my.heck!!! Have you seen this yet? It is so funny I watched it 5 times and laughed my head off each time. All three groups, Independents, Republicans and Democrats start out the same and increase as they agree with the direction of the economy and oil prices and then they all plummet when they see that it's about global warming but then the Democrats start to agree until it gets to the part about the party that supports taxes and regulations and it goes down again. Pretty funny stuff. But the funniest part is at the end. Notice which lines plummet when McCain says that he approves the message. It's my favorite part.

That was funny.

I hate stuff like this ... exploiting our affiliations in an attempt to influence our reaction.

I listened to today's Hear and Now on NPR. Listen to the first five minutes of it, especially the last 30 seconds of the piece:

"No, we don't seem to have too much leverage. And I think around the world there's also a sense that the United States leaders, and this is in both parties, tend to mislead the public, that we can drill our way out of this, we can use the bully pulpit to get a little bit of extra production and we talk about energy independence.

We're not gonna have energy independence, particularly on the oil side, until it's preceded by some energy or some oil discipline. And we really still are quite undisciplined in the way we use fuel.

I really like the bit about drilling our way out. I'm sure you do too.
