Who cares really whether the President talks to the bad men. Are you in 4th grade? Is this really that important?

Pardon me- we talk to bad leaders all the time. It’s called diplomacy. Nixon talked to China, Reagan talked with the Russians, Israel talks with all sorts of its enemies. This should not come as a shock to a sentient adult.

Umm.. Preparations doesn’t have anything to do with preconditions.
Setting a precondition means that the both sides have made some kind of guidelines on how, when, or about what the talks will proceed.
Being prepared means.. uhhhh.. being prepared.
You know, knowing how to pronounce the names, the issues, the current situation, where the countries are, what they call their language (So you don’t, say, call people from Kosovo ‘Kosovoians’, or that they speak ‘Mexican’ in Mexico, for example.)
A little preparation never hurt anyone.
