Tiger's Epic Victory

Monday June 16, 2008

Categories: Human Interest

What an amazing victory Tiger Woods had today. I was able to watch it live, and boy, golf just doesn't get any better than that!

I was however, rooting for the underdog, Rocco Mediate to win. He seemed so humble and unassuming and I think it would have been his first major PGA victory; and at 45 years old, that would have been monumental.

What made it so exciting was the sudden death match. This was after 90 holes of golf and then to go head to head, what pressure. Tiger was astounding coming off of his third knee surgery. I really thought that victory was out of his reach this time, that maybe, just maybe this time he wouldn't win. But I was wrong.

Even if you are not a fan of golf, this was an historic win. Watching these two men duke it out at Torrey Pines was the stuff legends are made out of.

This is a far more significant statement of Reformed theology than many would realize.

Rob, your snottiness to Susan is ill placed since she didn't have anything to do with the name. And all she wanted to was share her love of the game. If you weren't interested, the polite thing to do would have been to ignore it.

I guess we can see why Susan might not want to post on this blog given comments like this.

I have to admit, I was rooting for Tiger. He's gone through a couple of career slumps, and it always irritated me to hear people counting him out, when he has such a long career ahead of him. I think he's just about the best golfer ever, though of course I was also a fan of Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.

It was a great match, though. Go, Tiger.
