The day we celebrate our freedom from the tyranny of the crown and that last story I posted should help remind all of us why we celebrate today. Our freedom of speech is recognized and protected in this great nation and we should be thankful.
I hope everyone enjoys their day with family and friends or shopping or hanging out at the beach or however you plan to spend it. I know I'll be enjoying mine :-)

You mean there's one day a year when we don't all have to hang our heads in shame over the many grievous faults that France says we have? Oh happy day!

What, no bleating from the peanut gallery that all Americans should be truly ashamed for electing George Bush and not being sufficiently attuned to European cafe culture? Are you all about to join us in hoisting a cold one and eating some pork rinds? For shame!

A truly touching story, and truly despicable that NPR chooses to exploit the story of her redemption for political purposes.

I actually thought michele might appreciate a story about someone coming to faith from reading the Bible.
I was saddened that her own government used her. I was glad that she escaped that regime.
I suppose michele might not appreciate her pacifism which I think comes from her experience and perhaps her Christian faith. No matter whence it comes, it seems genuine.
Try filling up the rest of your half-empty glass, ZZ.
