Mocking the MSM’s love of Obama. Jon Stewart notes it as well.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

As bad as this is, at least it’s not as bad as foreign media. I remember watching a report by a prominent Mexican journalist in March or April of 2003 on how dolphins are used by the U.S. Navy to detect mines in the water and to place such weapons where we needed them to be. The reporter ended his segment with the editorial comment (in Spanish), “If these poor creatures only knew they were aiding the American forces, I wonder if they would cooperate with them.”
Oh, a Chris Matthews moment came to mind…At Al Gore’s concession to W., Matthews’ response was to say that his concession was almost “sacramental”. Hmm…maybe we do have it as bad as foreign media, after all!

Oh yes, it’s bad, embarrassingly bad, but then LEFTY LIBS have thrown off the shame of their hypocrisy some time ago. But…time does have a way of taking down the facades and if the Axis Media is successful in suckering enough of the citizens, the mess the Obamanation will make will be one they won’t be able to clean up for a long, long time.

The ad conveniently forgets to mention the fact that McCain has been on the ‘liberal’ media ,over the past 10 years, more than any politician. And have we heard any mention of his philandering ways, his dozens of flip-flops on issue after issue, the Keating Five?
He just talked about a problem area. The border between Iraq and Pakistan. The trouble is, there is no border between those two countries – unless you count Iran. He also doesn’t know the difference between Sunni and Shia, which is important in that part of the world. Lieberman had to correct him, twice, on the bit about Iran training Al Queda.
The MSM gave him a free pass on these, and many other gaffes.
If you really want to see fawning coverage, look what Bush got after 9-11. Laura Bush was asked on national TV if she thought that God himself put her husband in power. And how could we forget the coverage he got when he landed on the aircraft carrier? Groveling is a kind way to put it.
Obama has also gotten some negative press, especially about Rev. Wright, which got four times more coverage than any other political story this year.
This is just the right wing complaining about the ‘liberal’ media, that , for the most part, they own.

This is carping, and it is one reason the GOP is losing. People are tired of whining. If McCain wants the attention of the newsies, he needs to get off his a$$ and do something.

RG,
I have to admit to not hearing about the Iragi/Pakistani border gaffe, but as for the Sunni/Shia confusion the MSM pounded him mercilessly, especially Oberman and MSNBC (maybe you just had a two-week siesta.)
Interesting take concerning Obama gaffes at http://www.creativeminorityreport.com/2008/05/stupid-is-as-stupid-does.html.
Some included:
-The Selma March in 1965 contributed to his birth in 1961.
-Kansas tornadoes in May 2007 killed “ten thousand” people (instead of 12.)
-Afghans speak Arabic.
-Misunderstanding Memorial Day, and then claiming to see “fallen heroes” in the Memorial Day audience.
Same day: putting Auschwitz in western Germany, not Poland.
-“57 states”.
Another I seem to remember is after the Kentucky primary stating it was in Hillary’s neck of the woods (Kentucky boarders Illinois, not Arkansas.)

The MSM, the evangelicals, and some well intentioned folks ate right outta Bush’s hand after 911. Look where that got us.
I don’t blame folks for being upset at perceived media bias. But, that bias goes both ways.

Have you noticed lately that Michele seems to have become a mirror for Malkin’s Hotair blog? It seems that this is the only site she references for her anti-Obama screed.
Maybe you should simply set yourself up as an auto-bot and let Malkin go ahead and take over your blog.

hilarious whining from the mccain campaign and conservatives playing the ol’ “liberal media” card. they made this mess. they made an issue out of obama having not been to iraq and afghanistan for years. they hyped it up. used it against him. and now they’re sorry they did because the press is all over the good and the bad of obama’s trip. poor mccain with no cameras. will the tears never cease?

If the media were biased for Obama they wouldn’t help McCain out. CBS edited an interview with him to make him look better. Most of the media continually makes excuses for his speaches and try to say what he meant to say. I really think the bias is to the front runner. If McCain starts winning in the polls again he will be back to being the darling — and if Obama does what McCain has been doing he will be the story of the week rather than being edited.
The bias is for McCain.

But why shouldn’t I post a candidate’s ad? Just because they posted it first should I now avoid it?

*Yawn*. How is repeating a candidate’s name (by way of looping/overdubbing/sampling, as seen in the video) supposed to be a “comment” one way or another? Don’t news readers/opinionators have to say a person’s name so that we’ll know who they’re talking about?
Plus, the heading is quite misleading. What “new ad”? All I saw was (mainly) Faux’s commentators talking about Obama.
Get a point, Michelle.

Not a substantive response. But it wasn’t a substantive post or a substantive point. You can do better than this.
Given the dominating presence of Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Fox News, etc. it is time to retire the myth of the “liberal media.” And I understand that McCain is way behind, but this kind of attack just sounds shrill and desperate and reminds everyone how much enthusiasm there is for his opponent.

Since I’m pretty biased against McCain — because I feel he abandoned his GOP principles to become president. I had to ask some of my friends that are in the independent column about this ad.
And I have to ask everyone on this blog — why do you think this is an effective ad for McCain?
My friends don’t seem to think its an ad for McCain, but against him. The didn’t see the ending paid for by McCain I guess. :)
I’m just curious. I also admitted my bias. And for the flammers don’t make me quote Reagan on what the core principles of the Republican Party are that McCain, Bush, and Romney seem to have abandoned.

I actually don’t think it’s that effective as an ad for McCain. Though, I think it’s helpful to point out the obvious, that the coverage for Obama is over the top and far from objective. Even Howard Kurtz notes that the coverage of Obama’s trip to Iraq is biased. It’s obvious to everyone except the most partisan hack. That may be why some of the commenters don’t see it.

So everyone who disagrees with you is a partisan hack? It would be both “helpful” and easier to accept your authority to bestow that label if you engaged with the commenters in a thoughtful, considerate, generous, and substantive way. Otherwise, it is you who come across as partisan, mean-spirited, superficial, and uninterested in any kind of meaningful conversation.
I repeat, I know you can do better. Even with a sore thumb.

“I repeat, I know you can do better. Even with a sore thumb.”
Michele is out of her league when commenting on politics. She does much better when she talks about how her Reformed Theology informs her views on various issues. She was doing that for a time, and I honestly enjoyed the posts. But that kind of analysis is hard. It’s much easier to cut and past from Malkin and others of that ilk and include a snippish sentence or two, throw in a pithy tag, and call it a blog.
It’s sad when you compare it to the other blogs that Michele shares space with here on Beliefnet. Wallis, Kuo, and Dreher all offer original opinion and analysis. Seldom do they parrot material posted on other blogs, and when they do they offer substantive input of their own.
Michele, stick to what you are good at. Leave the political commentary to those with enough interest in it to do the work it requires.

yeah, the iraq-pakistan boarder was a good one. here are more mccain doozies:
* referred to vladimir putin as “president putin of germany.”
* twice recently, referred to czechoslovakia not knowing that it’s been divided into the Cczech republic and slovakia since 1993.
* at least twice has confused sunnis and shiites.
* said u.s. troops in iraq were “down to pre-surge levels” at a time when there were still actually 20,000 more troops than when the surge began.
* while discussing problems in darfur in sudan, he asked, “How can we bring pressure on the government of Somalia?”
* doesn’t know the timeline of the surge and the “anbar awakening.”
“the coverage for Obama is over the top and far from objective”
yeah, right. those weeks of airing the 30 second clips of rev. wright on continuous loop were favorable? or the propagating of the muslim rumor? the fact that he’s gotten more coverage does not mean that it has been favorable. so, yes, sometimes it has been over the top and far from objective (but not in the way you meant it).

Someone wake me up when one of these LEFTY LIBS comes up with something beyond an 8th grade insult. Puhlease already. At least try and graduate to your LEFTY LIB comedian John Stewart’s 9th grade insults.
And now on the The Obamanation gaffes:
“Well let me be absolutely clear. Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s,” he said, (Huh? There are TWO Israels? Hahahahahaha)
______________________________________________________________
“They looked at each other and they decided, ‘We know that in the world, as it has been, it might not be possible for us to get together and have a child, but something is stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across the bridge.’ And so they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don’t tell me I don’t have a claim on Selma, Ala.!”
Obama was born in 1961; the Selma march was four years later. (Uh Mr. Obamanation, please learn some math…hahahahahahaha! If McCain has dementia then this poor man, Obama, has DOUBLE dementia)
_____________________________________________________________
Obama, in his memoir, Dreams of My Father, writes of a story in Life magazine that influenced him — about a black man trying to bleach his skin white. No such article could be found in Life or Ebony. (we’ll call that a gaffe to be nice, most people simply call it a LIE)
_____________________________________________________________
Last May, he claimed that tornadoes in Kansas killed a whopping 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll: 12. (Gee folks, The Obamanation doesn’t know the difference between 10,000 and 12, you can call this just plain dumb)
_____________________________________________________________
“On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today (….uh, Mr. Obamanation, you see dead people? You do know the fallen heros were buried, right?)
_____________________________________________________________
Obama went on to tell his audience that the Kennedys — Jack and Bobby — decided to do an airlift. They would bring some young Africans over so that they could be educated and learn all about America. His grandfather heard that call and sent his son, Barack Obama, Sr., to America. The problem with that scenario is that, having been born in August 1961, the future senator was not conceived until sometime in November 1960. So, if his African grandfather heard words that “sent a shout across oceans,” inspiring him to send his goat-herder son to America, it was not Democrat Jack Kennedy he heard, or his brother Bobby, it was Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower (oops a daisy, more MATH challenges [never mind truth challenges] for The Obamanation)
______________________________________________________________
Obama said, “Just this past — this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, which is my committee, a bill to call for divestment from Iran as a way of ratcheting up the pressure to ensure that they don’t obtain a nuclear weapon.”
(Duh…uh…Mr. Obamanation, you aren’t a member of The Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Gaffe? Maybe. Narcissism interfering with the truth? Probably. Alzheimer’s? He could only wish that was his only problem)
____________________________________________________________
Of course this is just a sample of the crazy products from the mind of The Obamanation. Oh wait, the LEFTY LIBS don’t want to talk about these, they just want to offer excuses. Hahahahahahahahahaha! You poor little children. Next Please!

i agree. obama deliberately lied to make people believe that there israel is israel’s best friend (when we all know they are the worst of enemies) and that tornadoes killed 10,000 people in kansas (because, well, it’s kansas).
whatever. i suppose if obama was running on the platform of “historical recollection” i might take these gaffes seriously. but, he’s not. i suppose that’s what makes mccain’s errors so relevant (first of all, they’re relatively current events and secondly because they’re actually very important elements of foreign policy).
