Obama plans to be dealing with world leaders "over the next eight to 10 years"
Since he appears to have wowed the world (except for their leaders?), maybe he's including his years of being the savior to the world following his presidency:Today on CBS's Face the Nation, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in Afghanistan, told the...
No, Obama won't live up to expectations. You're right. But, he doesn't have to. All he has to do is be a lot better than W...not much of a challenge, but I'm pretty sure he can do it.
Kinda like Reagan. All he had to do was to be better than Carter. The hurdle was low, and he cleared it (barely). Now the GOP consider him a saint.
When the bar is set low by an ineffective (or worse, a detrimental) administration, the next one can seem superior by simply not making a fool of themselves.
And at least Obama knows who Iran is supporting in the Iraq civil war.
Jimmy Carter followed THE NIXON WHITEHOUSE (yes we know, Jerry finished the last two years for Dick) and ALL HE HAD TO DO was better than the previous 8 years. Not a hard task, even for a novice. What did Jimmy Carter do? By the time he got to the end of his 4 years inflation, interests rates and unemployment were skyrocketing, the stock market was pathetic in earning averages, the housing market was suffering badly, and our military was decimated.
So Jimmy Carter had a LOW bar, quite low and what did he do? He failed. OF course he was promoted as the negotiator, the statesman, the man of peace and diplomacy, the man of domestic concern...hahahahahaha what a crock and we got just what we deserved. But the MsM didn't care and now the oM doesn't care now. They are filled with journalistic misfits who have never grown up and use media as a vehicle for the expression of their antagonism toward anything constant, conservative or establishment oriented.
And so now we have The Obamanation. He is the Jimmy Carter of tomorrow. And you can bet that the 6% interests rates will be gone. You will see 10, 11 and 12% (and beyond) interests rates if he is President. You will see a tumbling stock market with a significant lessening of earnings because investors will have no confidence in a President whose personal doctrine is adversarial to a free market and capitalism. You will see a military reduced and diminished by a green horn whose naivety will seduce him into believing a nation's survival can successfully be achieved through means CONTRARY to history and that gullible dealings with liars, traitors, and psychopaths is reasonable. And if you think inflation, which PRESENTLY is due almost specifically to certain food items and gas, has gone up as opposed to a true prescriptive inflation rate of all products, just wait. Under The Obamanation YOU WILL see a real rise in the price of ALL GOODS. Consumer confidence will erode, investment in business will be reduced and those with the money to create new or more business and capital will be stalled because of the NEW TAXES The Obamanation wishes to impose.
So sure, imagine that the bar is set low you LEFTY LIB suckers. Keep telling yourself that. That's what you told yourself with Jimmy Carter and by the time his 4 years were up Ronald Reagan indeed smacked him down into oblivion to be remembered only as a loser and destructive personality (which he remains to this day).
And it might be, as I stated before, we need The Obamanation to pave the way for a better and more suited Republican leader. But do know this, no matter how low you imagine the bar is now (I don't necessarily agree but this is the view you LEFTY LIBS hold), The Obamanation, if elected, will inevitably do what Carter did and bring dangerously far lower.
Guy Arthur Thomas, you're foaming at the mouth a bit there. Would you mind going back, editing, eliminating turns of phrase like "do what Carter did and bring dangerously lower," and maybe cutting your post in half, and I'll give it a read.

Maybe you can go back and edit, "Would you mind going back, editing, eliminating turns of phrase". Now, let's pretend you have capacity to ignore that which seems unpleasant to you and hey, I might not have to do for you what you can do for yourself.
You have to remember that Obama learned his politics in Chicago, where such mis-statements are considered fine art.
It seems to me that most all of the comments expressed have been negative and disbelieving of the Obama presidential campaign, but giving space to those who find fault, see him as ingeniuous or naive. I have not seen any such comments reagarding the Mc Cain campaign. What is up? Is this not a neutral site, where you have caved in to the conservative bullies?
I don't consider that a gaffe. President Carter has been dealing with foreign dignitaries since 1976.
And Barbara: conservatives despise Senator McCain.
"And you can bet that the 6% interests rates will be gone. You will see 10, 11 and 12% (and beyond) interests rates if he is President."
high interest rates are a sign of a strong economy. in a lagging economy when people can't afford to buy houses and cars, banks are forced to reduce interest rates to entice people to borrow. now i see why you back mccain (birds of an uneducated feather flunked economics together). ;)
"And Barbara: conservatives despise Senator McCain."
the only thing that conservatives despise more than mccain, is a democrat. it's a matter of principle, right?
so to alleviate barbara's confusion, this site is anything but neutral and michele gets many of her leads mainly from hotair.com (where michelle malkin is a hate-mongering mouthpiece for the right).
I think Charles Krauthammer's column about Obama is wonderful; you can read it in the INQUIRER today.
Lieberman is also correct that it is due to Senator McCain that it is safe for Obama to travel in Iraq!
No, conservatives don't despite Democrats. We feel bad for them, don't trust them with power, but we don't despise you guys.
there's the difference, chris. i don't trust democrats or republicans or religious leaders with power. i just distrust republicans most. ;) maybe it was tricky dick and that he really was a crook. maybe it was reagan breaking the law that did it. maybe it was the do-nothing term of bush sr. that did it, or maybe it was the near total corruption of the republican senate and house that did it, or maybe it was the out of control spending, or the iraq debacle, the katrina failure, the outing of a cia agent, the schaivo involvement, or bush jr. violating the law and not protecting the constitution, but instead violating it at nearly every turn. maybe it was because bush (and giuliani) dropped the ball on sept. 11. but most certainly it was the total and complete incompetence of this administration from the bottom on up.
"... it is due to Senator McCain that it is safe for Obama to travel in Iraq!"
teehee! now that's funny. because mccain swept the country of all insurgents and hoodlums and "evil doers?" uh-huh. thanks, john.
So, does this "Constitutional scholar" not realize that there is this little thing called the 22nd Amendment that holds a president to only two, four year terms? Um, that would be a grand total of only 8 years, Barack, not 8 to 10. Of course, no one in the media is reporting this idiots gaffe.
amandy, he didn't say that he would be president for 8 to 10.
and how did you read about it, if "no one in the media is reporting" it? think about it... it'll come to you.
