One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

Aww, come on. Patty Hearst isn’t even Patty Hearst anymore, if you’re talking about the one from the 60′s. She’s been spoofing her own image on more than one movie.

And the Symbionese Liberation Army ain’t what it used to be, either.

Patty has moved on with her life. If Lydia wasn’t Patty’s daughter, no one would be writing about her.

Myla is a very good looking young woman. I hope she is able to enjoy her life more than her mother. I don’t think anyone should judge Patty, unless they were there and went through what she did.
If she eventually went along with her captors, so what? It is a pretty well documented phenomena. She was never political before or after she was kidnapped.
This post seems even more petty and mean spirited than your usual and to no particular purpose. I’m no fan of the idle rich but these Hearst women don’t seem all that provocative.

I’m sorry Michele, I normally like your posts, but this one left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Wow, a lingerie model! It’s nice to see another descendant of William Randolph Hearst make such an enormous contribution to society.

Patty Hearst was kidnapped, threatened with death, held in a closet for weeks and gang-raped. She was a victim of Stockholm Syndrome. I think sending her to prison for her participation in those crimes was a terrible miscarriage of justice, and a sign of basic ignorance of human psychology. I bet 90% of the people on this board would have done the same thing in her situation.

I thought this was a family friendly site. How about a warning regarding the pictures on click through?
Is this because Carter commuted her sentence? That he was “soft” on crime?
