*Yawn* Why would anyone waste their time? Anyone planning to see it? You couldn’t pay me enough to sit through Stone’s propaganda masquerading as a movie. (via)

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

i disagree, moonshadow. i think it will be hard to forget the things bush has done, and i think that the history books well portray it all accurately enough.
michele, what bit of propaganda do you pick up from the trailer that isn’t well known knowledge about bush?
i really don’t think i’ll be seeing the movie though, i’ve had all i can stomach of this administration.

My family is different. My son and I are both history geeks. So, how about the ‘historical documentaries’ on the History and Discovery channels? Will that be more likely? *grin*

The influence of Stone’s JFK, nearly 20 yrs. now, causes me to suspect that, ‘though it shouldn’t, this one will also serve substantially as a popular history lesson.
Believe me, after 9/11, I bought up as many factual History & Discovery channel programs on it I could get (on DVD) because I knew the dramatizations would start before too long. I wanted to remember that day right … and I want my kids to know it. I don’t review those programs as much as I should, my memory is always in need of a refresher.
I’m surprised that Stone hasn’t let more time pass before releasing this film, as anonymous reincarnate says, these facts are still fresh in our minds, so if Stone (not Bush) takes liberties, we ought to catch ‘em.

Stone has done some good stuff in the past, and he’s a capable director from a technical perspective but… he’s put out some real stinkers. Any Given Sunday, Alexander, World Trade Center, he’s just not shown much talent for a while. I suspect Platoon gave him an over inflated sense of self worth that he first showed in JFK. It’s kind of sad, Spielberg and Lucas both seem to have lost their ability to tell a story as well. Sometimes success does that to you, you lose your hunger and your drive, start taking things for granted.

“Me and my kids don’t read history books … we watch movies!”
well, i suppose that’s true with most families these days. i just wouldn’t rely on movies for writing any research paper in need of facts.

I’ve hated Oliver Stone movies for years, even though I was once in one of his movies as an extra (The Doors) but I might see this one just for laughs. He has so little respect for historic accuracy that he can’t possibly be taken seriously.

“You couldn’t pay me enough to sit through Stone’s propaganda”
this is not surprising, Michele. From what you type, it’s pretty clear you’d rather sit through Karl Rove’s propaganda. Or Faux “News’s”.
Um, it’s a movie. My guess is that it’s supposed to be entertaining. And, to the myriad Bush haters (at a 21% ‘approval’ rating, there’s a lot of ‘em), I bet it’s gonna be hugely entertaining.
Either get a thicker skin or a sense of humour.

Stone is jumping the gun. The drunken, stumbling, buffoon is still in the Oval Office. We can watch his antics live, on TV, every day.

Well, I think this will be the feel-good movie of the year, even if it is just a documentary.
