Wesley Clark off the VP list?

Saturday July 5, 2008

OOPS! You saw that coming, didn't you?

Nearly a week after his controversial "Face the Nation" appearance last Sunday, retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark is taking a break from the presidential campaign -- but many Democratic insiders think he has already been crossed off the list of Barack Obama's potential running mates.

[...]

"On a scale of 1 to 10, Clark's words were a 10 in terms of unhelpfulness," said one Democrat who has helped manage past presidential campaigns.

Well, can't say I'm too disappointed that Clark maybe off the VP list, that guy is strange. I wouldn't want him so close to the presidency.

And in other threads, ZZ accuses others of name calling. Whew.
Pot......Kettle.

you think you know me, huh, z? you think because i have an education, a nice family, and i'm no cheerleader for bush's war in iraq that i can't handle my own? "yellaguts?" son, you may want to take a pill and reconsider that thought before going any farther.

i have many of criticisms of mccain. including the obvious which clark pointed out, even before he did so. not that you'd be paying attention with your AD/HD.

oh, but wait, you're still pushing the point that unless you've done it, you can't criticize it? too bad that doesn't hold water either.

"People like you have no idea of what forms the human psyche, or what develops true character."

au contraire, mon frere. and it's not just flying a fighter jet. i know many a man who didn't mature until well after their military service. apparently you're one.

Some clarifications are needed, because lines are being obscured.

Petraeus is in uniform and acting in an official capacity. His word and honor were directly challenged and moveon.org libeled his character with their absurd insiuations about betraying our nation.

Clark drew negative reactions after he put the uniform away and purposefully entered the political forum.

There's a world of difference between smearing someone acting in official capacity (approved by the Senate, by the way) and slamming a politician.

Next, Clark was the commander of our forces when I served in Kosovo (not Bosnia, as some think). I had my own issues with how he ran the war. First, he ran it from Germany and rarely entered the area of operations to get a first hand account of events. Next, he ordered only high level bombing runs, which reduced effectiveness and increased the chance of collateral human damage. Finally, he made the absurd decision to try to oust the Russians from Pristina.

The last part is why a loyal liberal general, who just finished a "clean war" (for the type that think along those lines), was fired months before he could make a normal and uneventful retirement. I won't even get into how he insinuates he is responsible for the "Powell doctrine," though if you read his autobiography, you'll see how.

Clark served our country honorably and served it well at times. Other times, he was more interested in self-promotion and it badly effected his judgement. Regardless, he's a politician now and subject to the fire that politicians draw.

sorry, rockthrowingpeasant, but even soldiers (or as you like to call it, "someone acting in official capacity") are not immune from criticism, that includes petraeus. in fact, you just did so yourself, albeit after clark left the military.

regardless, since you have clearly made the distinction that "he's a politician now and subject to the fire that politicians draw," it obviously applies to mccain as well. i guess the righties have no reason to whine about the obvious point that clark made.
