One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

Sorry, that’s not much of an attack on McLame.
It’s just telling the truth.
McSame is a maverick- you hear that every time the press mentions him. But his policies and his votes are just like Bush’s, over 90% of the time.
And I hope he does run on tax cuts- after all, the national debt will just pay itself. Nobody ever needs to pay the bills- let’s just keep borrowing and spending like there is no tomorrow.
That’s the Republican way.
When the national debt hits $10, 000,000,000,000- 10 TRILLION- 80% of that debt will have been run up under Republicans. Reagan, Bush and Bush.
There’s a legacy we will never be able to repay. Literally.
Time to reread those Biblical verses about debt. You clearly missed them before.

Obama has told me how he wants to involve America, John “Big Mac” shows me how he wants to reward the rich.
How will McCain’s plans pay the debt of G.W. Bush? how can we pay our debts if all our jobs are oversees? How will giving leases to oil companies who won’t drill on leases they already have put one drop of gas into your “made in Mexico” PT cruiser?
How does portraying Obama as the Antichrist prove the integrity of the GOP?

Looks to me like the Obama as Antichrist meme is gaining ground. A very well planned ad by the McCain crew…typical Republican.

I guess if you can’t play the race card, you can play the religion one rather nicely and get a pass from the MSM.

But Obama IS the Antichrist and I want my 15 percent!

“You guys want an issue ad, well, here you go. He even makes the positive case for his own candidacy”
that’s an “issue ad?” more like a hybrid of attack ad and empty promises. it’s no wonder the right avoids issue ads, they don’t even know what they are. the most positive thing about it is that he has finally moved above the childish ads. unfortunately, he still is lying about obama and not giving any specifics on his own promises.
“the real obama promises higher taxes”
yeah, higher taxes for big earners (the same who bush favored while he screwed the middle class and poor), but most middle class (and the majority of people) would see lower taxes. mccain supports bush’s tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 to the upper crust who already have so much they don’t know what to blow it on next.

these attacks are the same lies that bush leveled at kerry in 2004, as factcheck points out (guess mccain really is mcsame after all).
“more government spending”
mccain says he will give more tax cuts on top of the 2001 and 2003 cuts (in the bush mold) and still be able to balance the budget. that’s not only improbable but total bull:
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/the_budget_according_to_mccain_part_i.html
“therefore, fewer jobs”
based on republican myth that government spending causes job loss, or what? i never understood this correlation. not that it matters, because obama wants to invest in renewable energy technologies, thereby creating new jobs in a growing sector of the energy market. he wants to help retool car manufacturers to design, build and sell more efficient cars, creating more jobs in the process. of either candidate, obama is trusted more by a majority of people to improve our economy which would in fact lower the unemployment rate. obama wants to take away tax breaks from companies that ship jobs overseas. mccain wants bigger tax cuts for them, and for companies across the board (including big oil).
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/mccains_small-business_bunk.html
And here is Obama’s attack ad against McCain. Funny, I thought he was post-partisan and above attack ads. I guess he’s no different than your typical politician, huh?”
obama’s attack ad? why didn’t i hear the “this is barack obama, and i approved this message” at the end? and if it is an attack ad, it’s a good one, because it uses his own words to tie him to bush’s policies. mccain does support bush’s tax cuts and wants even more despite the HUGE deficit.
