Gas Station TV network refuses to run Obama’s ads

posted by Susan Johnson | 5:57am Thursday August 7, 2008

Obama tried to run an attack ad which accuse McCain of failing to do anything about finding alternatives to oil but the station that broadcasts on the TV monitors on gas pumps in Florida refused the ads. The Obama camp sees self-interest behind the decision:

The company issued a statement saying it does not run political ads. The Obama campaign distributed e-mails that suggest GSTV accepted the ad and then reneged, and charged that the company “will not run ads that are damaging to oil companies.”

Well, no duh! Of course they aren’t going to run an ad that’s against their self-interest. They have a vested interest in the oil companies being able to sell gas, what would the Gas Station TV network do if there were no gas stations?

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Sell the alternative that is created? I mean, geez, think pumps can only pump gasoline? Seems that the creation of ethanol and the increased use of diesel didn’t destroy the gas station. If they were to create a fuel from, say, switch grass (don’t laugh too hard. That was in Bush’s second inaugural speech), that the pumps could pump that out.

I’m confused – would these adds have ben incestuous or cannibalistic. Maybe both. To be honest, I think either candidate would do better if they posted ads over urinals (I did it once for a campground ministry and increased attendence by more than 50 percent!)

If they posted ads over urinals…..
They are probably afraid that some people would use them for target practice. EWWWW.

Those TV monitors at the gas pump are very annoying. We have them here in L.A., I always avoid those stations like the plague. If they’re going to subject me to 5 minutes of commercials they would have to give me a discount or something – but they don’t.
