Wow! They really are tenacious. Maybe with Obama’s approval rating dropping by 11 points and falling behind McCain in the new Reuters/Zogby poll, they might be able to sway some of the superdelegates to change their vote ![]()
A massive e-mail and Internet campaign is under way aimed at derailing the nomination of Barack Obama and making Hillary Clinton the party’s standard bearer next week at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
[...]
Most of the messages Lowery has received from across the country come from Hillary supporters making the case that she won more voters’ votes in the primaries, she won bigger states, that Obama won states that won’t vote Democratic in November, and that she is the only “electable” Democrat.
BTW, on a somewhat related note, what in the world do you think Dowd is smoking? Does she really want to imply that it takes a Democrat to fight dirty? Do you think her fantasy is based on this?

When I read your blog. I understand what’s wrong with this country:
You mock all liberals, all Democrats, all liberal Christians and certainly all non-Christians. Basically, you have decided that at least half of this country doesn’t deserve to be treated with respect and maybe deserve to call itself American.
That is why this country doesn’t deserve to be what it once was. Because we vilify our own citizens and we teach our children to hate those we disagree with.

Out here in California, we have an interesting situation brewing. Our legislature still has not passed a budget (it was due By July 1), and the governor is talking about holding them in session through the conventions unless they get a budget passed. There are 73 Dems, all superdelegates, who would not be voting. I don’t know how many would be Obama delegates, but it could be an issue. As I recall, if less than 200 superdelegates abstained or switched their votes, Obama would not win the nomination on the first ballot.

When i read your RESPONSE I understand what’s wrong with PART OF this country…your part.
You accuse the BLOGGERS here of deciding that “at least half of this country doesn’t deserve to be treated with respect and maybe deserve to call itself American”.
Ok, show SPECIFICALLY where any of these BLOGGERS have issues this idea. Tick…tock…tick…tock….time is running out.
You can’t and you won’t because NO SUCH article or statement by them exists.
And so the problem with half this country, the half that are people like you, is that you are DISHONEST. You lie about what others in order to create a world that doesn’t exist in order to have an argument with those who won’t sing your favorite lullaby.
What you WEAK-KNEED sisters are whining about is PARODY and SARCASM. Grow up, they are both weaponry in the world of ideas and debate. Go change your diaper.

Where would we be without the Democrats to provide us with this unending source of amusement?

first of all, michele, you like to pick and choose your polls, don’t you? well good for you. here’s another for you, according to realclearpolitics.com, one more poll (battleground? never heard of them) has mccain ahead but by one point. all other major polls have obama ahead by 1-5 points, most of them falling within the margin of error. obama is averaged at 1.3 points ahead, and this is not something new… we’ve seen mccain pull even with obama when he releases a surge of attack ads against obama’s character. and let’s not forget the temporary bump that mccain likely got from evangelicals during his stump speech at saddleback. however, what has not happened still is for mccain to reverse his standing in the majority of polls and hold it any substantial time. if you watch the trend, especially over time and averaged across different polls, things still don’t look good for mccain.
but remember that 5pt blip because it’s likely to be the one of only a few bright spots in mccain’s candidacy. (fox news had him at +19, for what it’s worth)
up until now, obama has played pretty clean politics. don’t expect him to take mccain’s attacks without strong responses for much longer.
and i’m not the least bit concerned about hillary supporters making trouble. they will either vote for obama, or mccain, or a third party, or not vote. there may be a handful of puma’s that are vocal, but most of them are really republicans supporting mccain (the founder of the pac, darragh murphy, donated $500 to mccain, none to clinton) and trying to stir up flames and they’ll be lost in the groundswell of obama supporters at the convention.
i wonder why the mccain whining didn’t make bigger news. what a thin-skinned sissy! the old millionaire elitist can’t take any criticism. i also wonder why rick warren didn’t hold mccain to the rule of not giving his stump speech like he did with obama. maybe he was concerned that mccain couldn’t deliver anything more than he has rehearsed for the past several weeks.
rlb1961, california has 71 superdelegates. by my accounting, only one state legislator (sen. carole migden), is a superdelegate. that aside, of all the superdelegates (and the accounting is somewhat fuzzy, depending on what reports you read, but…) roughly 540 are committed to obama, 210 to clinton and 65 uncommitted. there’s a difference of 330 between them. if the 65 uncommitted go to clinton, she’d then have 275, still a shortfall of 265. i think it will take more than your one superdelegate legislator to make a difference.

Michelle is absolutely right.
Later this fall, the oil discovered in offshore drilling will bring gas prices back down approximately $1 a gallon. I am expecting this to happen sometime in late September after President Bush reissues the order to the oil companies to bring in the offshore oil now. Won’t the Obama people look ridiculous then? The Hillary women too. McCain will win in a landslide, and he should, because all our national problems will end if the Republicans just get back the power they deserve.

yes, bush shall issue the order, and thy will be done, and miracle of miracles, the 10+ year lead time for new production off the coast will miraculously vanish and the oil will flow like wine. and despite the bottleneck of refining petroleum, we will immediately see gas stations stockpiling the over-stock of domestically produced gasoline (because oil companies will see the evil of their ways and sell that oil only within the u.s.). and of course bush will have usurped states rights (because after any federal ban is lifted, the states would also have to ok any new drilling), but that’s ok, because he’s a republican messiah and nothing is beyond his power. bush can make it happen, because he has been so successful at getting us back to $1 gallon gas in the past.
hee. teeheee. hahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
mccain will win in a landslide? BWAHAHAHAHAHA AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAH!
all our national problems will end? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! ooooooh my!
come on, which one of you guys is playing with us here? and you nailed it! most republicans actually believe that load! well, whoever it was, i thank you! i had a rough day at work and needed that laugh. now that’s good parody. thanks!

“McCain will win in a landslide, and he should, because all our national problems will end if the Republicans just get back the power they deserve.”
They had the power you think they deserve from 2000 – 2006 and that’s why we’re as screwed as we are.
