"Ready to tax, ready to spend, not ready to lead"

Pretty decent radio ad by McCain using the celebrity theme that's been pretty effective to launch an attack against Obama's proposed spending. So, what say you, Obamanites who have complained about Bush's deficit spending, will you complain just as loudly...

Do you know what's worse than a tax and spend liberal? A don't tax and spend conservative...not only do you get failed policies, but you have to pay interest on the debt. So, with McCain, quote might be, "Not ready to tax, ready to spend, not ready to lead."

McCain will continue a tax policy that was based on the premise that if you cut taxes you can spend all you want because there will be extra revenues generated by the tax cuts that more than make up for the tax cuts. Gee, it didn't work under Reagan and it didn't work under W and it won't work under McCain. To answer your question more specifically, I will complain just as much. But here's the thing, if we have as big a deficit, but get better healthcare or better schools or just about better anything, it would be better than getting a failed war that has left over 4,000 Americans dead.

I would complain just as loudly about Obama's deficits, assuming there are any. Now, it's kind of interesting that Republicans are bringing up overspending on the part of Democrats because they have been overspending for almost 8 years now. They based their failed tax policy on the premise that lowering taxes would be okay because it would generate more revenue for the government to spend. The only trouble is that it didn't work for Reagan and it didn't work for W and it won't work for McCain. But, even if we do get deficits with Obama, we will be spending on things like healthcare and education and other programs that might have a chance on helping Americans, rather than continuing to spend billions on a failed war that will only add to the over 4,000 dead Americans.

Since the GOP Revolution of 1994 we have seen what conservative economic policies have done to this nation. The last thing we need to do now is to give any credence at all to any conservative who complains about the spending policies of Congress. Where were these voices for the past 14 years? More than likely going to the polls and voting GOP, thus perpetuating the myth of trickle-down, supply-side economics.

The deficit and the increasing national debt has not mattered to the GOP or to conservatives until they lost control of Congress in 2006. For 12 years the GOP spent this country into the ground. The only respite we had from it was the few years of Clinton's administration, and he left office with a surplus that the conservatives quickly destroyed.

So please, Michele, spare us the complaining about a possible Democratic administration's spending policies. Give the Democrats 12 years or so to undo the mess that your party made of our economy, and then perhaps we can see if your complaints have merit. Until then, excuse me while I laugh at your concerns.

yes, if he's president, i will. we need to pay down the deficit (my great grandchildren thank you, bush, for giving them something to work for other than their own prosperity). however, i urge people to check the facts. mccain's tax and economic plans will dip much deeper into the red than obama's. if you care about fiscal solvency and plan to vote for mccain, you may as well assume the position, because you're gonna get s c r e w e d by mccain.

will you, michele, give up praising mccain for continuing to misrepresent the truth (i.e. lie)?

multiple fact check websites have nailed mccain time and time again for his lies and misrepresentations on obama's tax plan and economic plan (and energy plan, and, and, and! it seems the straight talk express must have blown more than a few gaskets).

http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/publications/url.cfm?ID=411741 lays out all the numbers, charts, and analysis in an honest, straight-forward way:

"The two candidates’ tax plans would have sharply different distributional effects. Senator McCain’s tax cuts would primarily benefit those with very high incomes, almost all of whom would receive large tax cuts that would, on average, raise their after-tax incomes by more than twice the average for all households. Many fewer households at the bottom of the income distribution would get tax cuts and those tax cuts would be small as a share of after-tax income. In marked contrast, Senator Obama offers much larger tax breaks to low- and middle-income taxpayers and would increase taxes on high-income taxpayers. The largest tax cuts, as a share of income, would go to those at the bottom of the income distribution, while taxpayers with the highest income would see their taxes rise significantly."
...
"Although both candidates have at times stressed fiscal responsibility, their specific non-health tax proposals would reduce tax revenues by an estimated $4.2 trillion (McCain) and $2.8 trillion (Obama) over the next 10 years. Both candidates argue that their proposals should be scored against a “current policy” baseline instead of current law. Such a baseline assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts would be extended and the AMT patch made permanent. Against current policy, Senator Obama’s proposals would raise $800 billion and Senator McCain’s proposals lose $600 billion."
...
"Under either Senator Obama’s or Senator McCain’s plan, however, the debt would likely continue to rise as it has over the past eight years, even under the CBO’s relatively optimistic assumptions about spending. Senator Obama’s plan would add $3.6 trillion to the national debt (including additional interest costs) while Senator McCain’s plan would add $5.0 trillion."

THE NATIONAL DEBT IS NEARLY $10 TRILLION.
$8 TRILLION OF THAT WAS RUN UP UNDER 'FISCAL CONSERVATIVES' REAGAN ,BUSH AND BUSH.

You Republicans have got no fiscal sense at all. You have a lot of nerve even bringing up this subject.
This is like getting a lecture on nonviolence from Jack the Ripper!

Did it hurt when they removed your sense of shame?

How are we going to pay for the debt owed to the People's Republic of China for the senseless war in Iraq? How are we going to pay for the Medicare of the uninsurable that McCain's proposal leaves behind? How are we going to pay for the "tax relief" for the corporations that send jobs overseas and shut down plants in America?

Mccain's lame plans only allow the rich to keep their wealth and leads us into National fiscal disaster. I am a proponent of "pay as you go" We had a balanced budget and a surplus eight years ago and now the National debt is the largest it has ever been. Even during the WWII we did not owe as we do now.

McCain's answer is not to pay, pass the buck and reward the rich for making us a poorer nation.

Everybody knows the economy began falling apart only after the Democrats retook the Congress. Everybody knows the longest boom in our nation's history took place under George W. Bush. Elect Republican Congressmen and John McCain and happy days will be here again. It's as simple as that. Case closed.

"How are we going to pay for the debt owed to the People's Republic of China for the senseless war in Iraq?"

well, iraq will make trillions selling their oil to china (that china buys with the money that wal*mart has traded for all the lead-painted plastic swords and squirt guns). in turn we will borrow the money back from iraq that we used to rebuild their country after we leveled it looking for those evasive WMDs. that money will be used to pay back china. at that point, president mccain will then invade iran, sending our military in with plastic swords and squirt guns purchased from wal*mart with money borrowed from afghanistan's booming opium market.
