Wow! Palin is great! I just became a McCain supporter!
I just got done watching the news conference and I was blown away. She lives up to her hype! She was brilliant, articulate, forceful, and made a very good case for McCain. She was so convincing that she convinced me...
john mcain has finally gone senile. this is the last person american's want to be president when old mr depends kicks the bucket in his first term. she is squarely against every woman's issue and has "executinve experience" in a state with less population than a trailer park i used to drive by on the way to work. she is mired in scandal and is not up to this. watch the polls. mcbush is toast.
I think he'll get a bump from this given the level excitement in the conservative camp.
Billg? Are you serious? Against every woman's issue because she's pro-life? Mired in scandal? That's not even bright by the already low standards of the trolls who negatively post on this blog.
She has a brief but outstanding record of fighting corruption and business-as-usual. Inspired pick by McCain.
Good luck on your poll watching! This might be a fun campaign season!
Blah, I like Governor Palin okay but this isn't going to make me want to vote for him. He'll win anyway, Senator Obama has peaked.
Does Rahm realize as he looks to the right and up the street out of his office, that he is looking towards SMALL TOWN AFTER SMALL TOWN in central and western Illinos? Many with less people then Palin's small town. ALL sending their tax dollars TO Chicago's problems THAT AREN'T GETTING SOLVED!!!!
The Dems prove beyond doubt that they are the smug ________ that they are accused of being.
I'm through with the Democrats.

Yuck.
Weird hair, screeching voice and she's a nut who can't keep her pill bottles straight. I would never vote for her on her own, but she'll probably be the key to getting McCain elected.
such a shake-up (and the targeting of female clinton supporters and the religious right pandering) is a sure sign of desperation on mccain's part.
let's match up the country's problems and see where the republican ticket addresses those, shall we? she doesn't shore up any of mccain's credentials (except it brings the average age of the ticket down to 58 years).
perhaps our conservative friends can fill us in on where palin stands on the issues.
economy?
education?
healthcare?
afghanistan & iraq?
foreign policy?
military & security?
energy? (husband works for oil biz, she's pro-drilling and wants to tap answ)
corruption? (oops, she's embroiled in her own for abusing and misusing power)
rights? (she's anti-choice, anti-marriage rights)
although, mccain does have a history of dumping his wives for prettier women that are half his age (forget those family values).

Economy: cut spending, refuse pork.
Healthcare: supports consumer driven healthcare, supports flexibility in government regulations to allow competition (which drives down costs).
Afghanistan & Iraq: I'm guessing that she takes the situation quite seriously...
Foreign policy: since she has a son who will be heading in the direction of the Middle East
Military and Security: said son being in the military.
Energy: oil, natural gas... she's for it?
corruption: Show me a Republican who is being investigated and I'll most likely wait to see what the outcome is.
Rights? I think you mean antigay marriage rights. And pro "least of these".
I'm not seeing a problem here.
I'm not seeing a problem with this choice either. I was impressed when I first heard her today. How refreshing it is to see this selection. She certainly is not a jaded Washingtonian. Never would have believed a Republican would do this. Good call.
Great post. I was taken aback by the selection, considering that she doesn't have the traditional Ivy League or West Point background, but then almost a quarter of American presidents didn't even go to college, and that didn't stop them from leaving powerful legacies (Lincoln is only the most famous of these presidents).
Governor Palin did go to college of course and made a success of her life and her tenure in the governor's house in Alaska. Any doubts I had about her, though, vanished when I saw her speak. She is clearly articulate, strong and at the same time very sophisticated. This is not a rustic from the backwoods as many pundits would have you believe. She is truly fit for the office and in four or eight years she will have all the experience she needs to ascend to the presidency.
Wow, for the first time in several years, I am PROUD TO BE A REPUBLICAN!
"She is truly fit for the office and in four or eight years she will have all the experience she needs to ascend to the presidency."
Therein lies the problem.
I find Palin personally appealing myself. Of all the parade of candidates we've endured this year, she seems the most like "my kind of people." She probably is a terrific governor of Alaska. But while I don't care whether she can spell Kyrgysistan (if that's how you spell it), I do want to hear more on the issues of governance that go beyond Wasilla all the way to Washington.
This changed your mind? It's just bizarre to me that someone could be lukewarm about McCain, but the choice of a pro-life candidate with no serious experience suddenly changes the entire equation. Why? Are you expecting Palin to become the Abortion Czar? That she's going to oversee his nominations to the court? Is it that you've been so ignored so long by your own party that any attention gets you going?
I agree completely with this article. It is time for a woman and kudos to McCain for seeing that. I am Democrat and an Indian American, but this year I will be voting for Mccain Palin.
What an awful pick. She has little to no experience. She is governor of a state that has fewer people than live in most large cities in the United States. The ONLY reason McCain picked her is because he thinks a woman well vote for a woman because they are a woman - what bullshit. She is opposite of what Hilary stands for. Would you really want this woman becoming president if something happened to McCain. She would be the laughing stock of the US and the world. Are we that stupid that we would actually vote for this ticket. Believe me if we elect McCain/Palin he'll be like Herbert Hoover. One term and out and by that time we'll be in a depression. Is that what you want??? If so vote for McCain. You'll be shooting yourself in the foot and all the way up your damn leg.

I second this astute observation. Give the bandwagon time to warm up even? Cripes.
I was a Hilary fan, and now I am voting for McCain. Good Choice McCain!
Marge, can you tell us why you supported Hillary Clinton and how Palin has earned your vote for McCain? I do not see much that they have in common and would really like to understand your thinking on this.

is this about bristol lynn spears or bristol palin. i can't figure it out.
where was her mother's guidance??? didn't she know what was going on in her own home??? was she too caught up in herself and her career that she let her daughter get knocked up???
what's happened to conservative christian values.. AT HOME?
What's the difference between Sarah Palin and George W. Bush?... lipstick.
Tell me how you were supporting hilary then this pathetic VP. Just to tell you Palin is representing everything Hilary was against just because she has a vagina and she is running a family like you (and probably worse than you). She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. She is not a maverick and it makes me sick(and hilary) when you go to McCain for spite. This is going to be one of the worst administrations ever if it can get worse than the last 8 years than America will be too far from saving and this will be the end of democracy if they win in November
Palin is a theocrat, who would like to make the United States a Christian nation, just as GW Bush and other fundamentalists have been trying for years. Whether you are an atheist, a Muslim, or a Christian - this is a bad idea for democracy, built on the separate of church and state.
Palin, in other words, has unpatriotic designs for our nation.
Let's see y'all respond to that!
Why not, let it be a fanatic state so we all can be true holy warriors.. We can elect 8 more years of this beautiful thing we already had based solely on their views of God. We can keep going backwards erasing all man's progress and say that knowledge is evil. It will be a great thing going backwards.. right?
We can teach war even though Jesus taught peace. We can teach hate even though Jesus taught love. I mean Bush and all the other past president's supported opposite views that Jesus had. You people support these war mongers that do not even hold to the message that Christ really wanted to get across to his believers. I mean where in the bible does it preach that wealth is the essence of life. The only thing I can see republicans supporting is pretty much support huge corporations, make the rich richer, encourage investing, not providing for social needs of others, decreasing regulation in business, starting wars, drilling for oil (mostly so they can make money for their buddies in the oil business). I mean does it take a rocket scientist to figure out daddy Bush and baby Bush were pretty much supporting the oil companies. Does it take a rocket scientist to figure out that the republicans have pretty much outright supported the greedy in this country. Oh! wait.. I forgot that is Christian right? Greed.. I mean I can't really figure out where that is in the bible.. Maybe the old testament might have references..
Lets see, we have these republicans sitting there preaching they are the compassionate party with Christian values but could give a hoot less. They don't care about Christian values they care about filling their pockets with more cash and helping their rich buddies out. Let's see, we have Nixon (oh yeah he was great), Reagan (oh yeah Iran-Contra. on and on under handed crap), Bush (Savings and loan scandal.. on and on.. His son Neil Bush was DIRECTLY INVOLVED!!), Bush (Enron deregulation, policy changes, Lies of Iraq war, mortgage frauds on large scale, 9/11 failures to take preventive actions.. liberties attacked.).. Even McCain was part of the Keating five that was considered corrupt during the S&L investigation.. He is liar just like most of the politicians up there in Washington.. I don't care how intelligent people may sound or how clever they may wiggle their way out of lie.. These people are just plain and outright liars.. The only reason McCain created this whole image of being against the whole money machine in Washington was to put a view into peoples head that he is honest McCain against the money of corporate donors.. Right, he is a thief no matter what type of meaningless loop holed legislation he writes..
I mean what exactly do you see in the republicans.. I mean where do they support the little guy.. Oh wait.. they support taking money out of our pockets.. They support taking advantages provided to us for bankruptcy protection, they support large corporations, they support sending our jobs away (giving tax incentives for it).. Oh, and please don't tell me it is because of our horrible educational system because it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work in a call center (SCRIPT READERS!!!)..
WOW, women like you are as gullible and naive as John McCain anticipated. Easily lead, easily duped easily fooled. You are women like you are prime cult material. You lack biblical wisdom and knowledge. Palin is bait and you all fell for it. The gates of hell are wide.
