Biden: “I guarantee you Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns, so don’t buy that malarkey”

posted by Susan Johnson | 7:48am Sunday September 21, 2008

The gift that keeps on giving! This from a guy who has an “F” rating from the NRA. Yeah, he’s believable.

“I guarantee you Barack Obama ain’t taking my shotguns, so don’t buy that malarkey,” Biden said Saturday at the United Mine Workers of America’s annual fish fry in Castlewood, Virginia. “Don’t buy that malarkey. They’re going to start peddling that to you.”
Biden told the crowd that he himself is a gun owner. “I got two,” Biden said, “if he tries to fool with my Beretta, he’s got a problem. I like that little over and under, you know? I’m not bad with it. So give me a break. Give me a break.”

Does this guy think that the gun owners are reassured by his insistence that Obama isn’t going to take away shotguns? Shotguns aren’t the issue, it’s handguns that are the issue. Handguns were the issue in the Heller case and they are the target of gun control proponents. Every time the Obama campaign talks about gun ownership, it’s hunters and shotguns not handguns and protection.
The more they try to reassure us that they don’t intend to take away guns from gun owners, the more suspicious I’m becoming (and I’m not alone). Obama has said that he couldn’t take our guns even if he wanted to because he doesn’t have the votes. But if that changes, well that’s another story, isn’t it? He’s telegraphing what he’s going to do and if we care about our rights, we better seriously think about who we’re sending to Congress and the White House.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Our guns? The kind that Jesus packed (concealed, of course)? If only, Jesus had had a handgun, well he could’ve wasted Caiphas. Or, even better, the Pharisees! Insread of Sermon on the Mount, we’d have Showdown on the Mount. Michele, are you even a Christian?

myshkin2, Michelle’s Christianity is pretty obvious to all. But she is right, it is much more difficult to hold up a convenience store if all you’ve got is a shotgun, and McCain-Palin will support our armed robbery entrepreneurs by keeping not just handguns but assault weapons available to all.

People with guns kill people. Hand guns are made for one purpose only, to kill people at close range. Assault weapons are made for one purpose, to kill as many people as it can at one time.
The NRA wants to profit on the death of others while standing on the Second Amendment. Keep your shotguns and your hunting rifles, but God protect me from the hand guns that are stolen, shared or handed out at gun shows to the inane, insane and self righteous fools.
We need National gun regulations to protect ourselves from well meaning fools that let their guns get into the hands of criminals. We need gun protection laws that punish people who can not keep their gun safe and out off the hands of Children and drug dealers. WE need to protect our Local Law Enforcements from deranged men and women who have lost control of their lives and attack the innocent.
Jesus had only one weapon, the Word of God.

Michele,
You’re still pushing the culture war. I’m glad because the GOP’s insistence on culture war to hide their own economic policies is gonna get Obama into the Oval Office.
Guns don’t mean much to people that can’t afford ‘em. Maybe not even to right-wing nut cases.
After the activities of Wall Street this last week, you’re not talking to independents – which McCain will need. You’re just preaching to the hard right GOP choir.

The argument against handguns in the incompentant, criminal and insane falls flat when one realizes that hundreds of thousands of them already are, we call the people so afflicted police.

Yes…and the 2nd Amendment still covers our right to bear arms. Long or short, the 2nd Amendment guarantees our right to protect ourselves and our families.

So Jesus and John Calvin would be NRA members. Suprised you have not madvocated that NRA membership be a criteria for ordination in the PCA! And the pastor has to pack his pistol in the pulpit!

I agree with you completely, Michele. And to the person who said “People with guns kill people. Hand guns are made for one purpose only, to kill people at close range.”, you couldn’t be more wrong. The saying “guns don’t kill people, people kill people,” is completely true. If someone is using their gun for self-defense, they more than likely are defending themselves from a gunless attacker or they would already be dead. Guns are constantly a saving grace to otherwise helpless folks under attack. And, though handguns are mostly used at close range, they are not limited to that. My brother-who also owns multiple shotguns- uses his hand gun for hunting as well quite often. Oh, and you Obama supporters who are accusing Michele of not being a Christian need to check out this video of your “wonderful” Obama -who claims to be a Christian- trashing the Bible.

We expect you to believe every lie told you by a Republican. And to pass it along. That’s what your conservative faith seems to rely on, any more.

Doesn’t make a bit of difference what Biden or Obama say today…such promises are tomorrow’s used kleenexes.
Biden is a member of the poltical class and they can do whatever they want. It is those of us not so blessed who are closer to the sharp end and keep and bear different weapons for many reasons, among them self-defense, who need Biden’s control, lest we do something he doesn’t approve of.
I was stalked for 14 months and know the limits of police protection. Fortunately for me the man never went homicidal, he preferred arson and appearing on doorsteps.
As in many other areas of life, that the subjects might take a decision without consulting with government is unacceptable to Obama and his ilk. That includes guns an self-defense.

Biden is right, Obama will not take HIS shotgun. Anti rights politicians will not disarm Feinstein, or her anti gun cronie’s bodyguards. Only law abiding citizens will be disarmed. Criminals will still be allowed to keep unregistered guns to commit crimes against their victims. Politicians enjoy high crime rates, it enables them to appear to be doing something about it-increased taxes, bond measures to “fight crime”, and “do nothing feel good” legislation. If crime was actually lowered, people will have other things to concentrate on-political corruption, wasted tax dollars on an expanding wasteful government, noticing too many “feel good” laws being passed, instead of really solving any problems. Remember the “clinton wars”, that diverted attention away from corrupt political deals, high taxes, excessive salaries and benefits for politicians, and of course Monica.

I wonder what kind of shotguns Joe Biden owns?
As for myself, I have more shotguns than I need but no where’s near how many shotguns I want. The same goes for revolvers, SA pistols, rifles and the Barrett .50 cal.

If you’re in not good state and have no cash to get out from that point, you would require to receive the loan. Just because that would help you for sure. I get secured loan every year and feel myself OK just because of it.
