Biden: "No coal plants here in America"

Tuesday September 23, 2008

Categories: Environment, Politics

What happened to the "hard-coal miner" who was happy to be back in coal country?

What's amazing about this is that Obama's campaign actually supports clean coal and now Biden has opened the door for McCain to use the issue against their campaign:

"My opponent is against the expansion of nuclear power," McCain said at a business stop in Strongsville, Ohio. "His running mate here in Ohio recently said that they weren't supporting clean coal, either. And the fact is that their billions of dollars in higher taxes would kill jobs here in Ohio. That's not what Ohio needs and that's not what America needs. My economic focus throughout this campaign has always been pro-growth policies that will create jobs."
Biden's spokesman attempts to clean up the mess:
"Senator McCain knows that Senator Obama and Senator Biden support clean coal technology," says Biden spokesman David Wade. "Senator Biden's point is that China is building coal plants with outdated technology every day, and the United States needs to lead by developing clean coal technologies. The Obama-Biden comprehensive energy plan will invest $150 billion over 10 years in clean energy technologies, including incentives to accelerate private sector investment in commercial scale zero-carbon coal facilities. The Obama-Biden Department of Energy is committed to developing 5 'first-of-a-kind' commercial scale coal-fired plants with carbon capture and sequestration here in the United States."
But that's not what Biden said, he said "no coal plants here in America." Obama may support clean coal but Biden doesn't,he was against it during the primaries. Kind of puts the whole "coal miner" speech into a new light, doesn't it?

BTW, did you notice how touchy he was being with this girl? He was in her face and pointing his finger at her. Reminds me of gramps berating his granddaughter. It seemed a little condescending.

'Got to give you credit for getting the quote right this time.

Just as the Republicans are running John McCain for President, not Sarah Palin, the Democrats are running Barack Obama for President, not Joe Biden. I'll go with what the top of the ticket says in either case. But it is a legitimate issue. Personally, I greatly favor wind or solar, but it's hokey dorey with me if they build the turbines in Appalachia.

Tonight's question:

"Is it possible for Joe Hair Plug to open his mouth without making a total fool of himself?"

Of course. He does not have to make a fool of himself as he was born that way.

grandpa? you mean biden or mcthusela?

then mcthusela says stupid stuff like, "And the fact is that their billions of dollars in higher taxes would kill jobs here in Ohio." i'd call that a gaffe but it's more like a lie.

and i like this zinger from biden:

"I'm kind of sick and tired of Republicans talking to me about how much they love the military," Biden said. "My dad used to say, don't tell me what you value. Show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value."

or in mcthusela's case, show me your voting record.
