Clinton cancels apperance at rally because of Palin

posted by Susan Johnson | 6:43am Wednesday September 17, 2008

This reminded me of the SNL skit. Clinton didn’t know that Palin was going to be there and learned about it from reporters:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has canceled an appearance at a New York rally next week after organizers blindsided her by inviting Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, aides to the senator said Tuesday.
Several American Jewish groups plan a major rally outside the United Nations on Sept. 22 to protest against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I think it was a mistake for her to cancel, it would have been the media event of the day. Wall to wall coverage leading up to the event and then wall to wall analysis afterward.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Not surprised at all. Darkness can’t stand the exposure light brings. Democrats and the left constantly preach tolerance and diversity, except when it comes to conservatives and what we believe. We cannot allow our country to be enveloped in the darkness of the left. We need to fight and shine our light brighter than ever!

The rally organizers insist they told Clinton of the Palin invitation. They wanted it to be bipartisan, which apparently was unacceptable to Clinton.
Of course, I think it’s sad that leaders of both parties have been eager to jump on the bandwagon of opposition to diplomacy. Both parties are so controlled by the military-industrial complex that I think it more accurate to call them two wings of one Establishment Party. The U.S. has the outward trappings of democracy, but effectively prevents any real opposition view from having a chance. The parties have conspired together to devote massive resources to current and future wars for many decades, while surveys show majorities of members of both parties believe we should cut the military budget substantially. Note the almost identical positions of McCain and Obama on increasing the military budget and the size of the armed forces. Why no real choice on so vital an issue?
