One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

I guess it’s just another GOP lie, besides pit bulls don’t skate, the bit children.

Ah, the politics of resentment. But it is a funny ad.

It’s very funny and designed, I’m sure, to head off what is bound to come as her bubble bursts. Her approval rating fell ten points since Saturday. As one commentator remarked, if Palin were a stock, you’d SELL BABY SELL.
And now she’s stonewalling on Troopergate even though the investigation was in response to a Republican-led initiative.
Smells like something’s rotten in Alaska.

Here are two ideas for new ads: I’d like to see one about Sarah Palin’s lie that the teleprompter broke down when she was giving her speech at the RNC. Trouble is, the teleprompter screen was in full view of the press. It operated perfectly. So why the lie?
And then there’s this:
Sex, Lies, and Trooper-Gate
Sarah Palin is having trouble keeping her stories straight about why she fired her public safety director in Trooper-Gate.
At one point, she went so far as to say she hadn’t fired him at all: he’d quit. But now, with help from the McCain campaign, she’s come up with a new justification for what is again being called a firing: insubordination.
And what, you ask, did he do that was supposedly insubordinate? He was too aggressive in trying to go after sex offenders, specifically child molesters. Seriously.

That’s not swiftboating. Swiftboating has to be true and accurate, this is just a slice of the Big Lie.

Have you noticed our sports distinctions are soccer-moms and hockey-moms. These are the two least attended sports that have the lowest number of adult devotees – thought the fans they have are passionate. Also they tend to be geographically diverse – to the north and to the south. Just a curiosity that has itched enough to need scratching.
I am astounded that the politcal handlers have not started a NFL fans for *** or NBA fans for ###. In that it is NFL and MLB seasons it would seem likely. The NBA is out of synch. And what are we to do with NASCAR, about as un-green a sport as ever devised? This would all make the Bud-Bowl (Tastes great / Less Filling) look a lot more interesting.
