One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

The irony of a Barronness who hasn’t worked an honest day in her life calling the son of a single mother elitist is too much to handle. It’s almost as bad as the husband of a beer heiress who has seven homes in three time zones calling the same man an elitist.

OK, I cannot make it past a Baronness calling ANYone else an elitist. This is one of the silly moments that makes the entire Electoral Circus (a far more appropriate word then “Electoral Collage”) so much fun. So is this the clown act? Who does the highwiree – or is that what we call the “debates”? And I guess the animal acts, from trained ponies and puppies to the Big Cats, are the news interviews. I love the cricus!

Um, Daniel, do your research. Lynn Forester was born to a middle class family whose parents struggled to put her through college. She earned a Columbia Law degree.
She was a very successful businesswoman who had made millions all on her own before she ever met and married her husband much later in life. Never worked a day? Baloney. You can disagree with her, but to paint her as some idle heiress eating bonbons her whole life is just silly. This lady worked her tail off, and accomplished a lot.

Miss Campbell is out of line, and with her cynical facial expressions, is the real bitter one.
By the way, the argument that if one is an elitist herself and therefore pot calling the kettle black argument does not work in this case. I mean, if you’re an elitist, wouldn’t you be able to recognize another?
Is the Campbell biased? Or is she bitter as well, and jealous?
posted September 18, 2008 at 11:42 am
Oh, Campbell is just jealous because never got to be part of a great conspiracy to rule the world.

Campbell Brown was totally unprofessional when she interviewed Lady de Rothschild 17 September on CNN. Brown definitely showed her idealogical bias. Is that the job of an interviewer? I think not!

I feel that Lynn Forester de Rothschild is very bitter, otherwise share the wealth with us middle class people who are losing are homes and jobs everyday. If you are so concerned about us, open your pocketbook full of billions and help those of us who aren’t doing so well since that idiot Bush 43 took office!

MPinSC,Lady Lynn worked hard by marrying her first husband, Mark Stein who inherited his father’s publishing company. You’re the one who needs to do some research. Plus, it doesn’t matter if she wasn’t always a Rothschild. Bill Clinton wasn’t always part of the elite class, he certainly is now.
Also,Campbell Brown is married to Dan Senor, who worked in the Bush White House and currently works for Fox News. So I doubt she’s an Obama supporter.

I’m sorry, but it’s RIDICULOUS for a billionaire to call Barack Obama an elitist. There are lots of reasons why you might not like Barack Obama, but I think it’s pretty clear that Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild is making this decision based on something other than politics.
Either she originally chose Hillary Clinton solely because she is a woman, OR she’s choosing against Obama now because of his personality. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton share the same basic principles and those stand in stark contrast to those of John McCain and the Republican party.
Personally, if I were a billionaire, I would choose John McCain, too, because it means tax cuts for me. But the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center shows that the middle class is much better off choosing Barack Obama’s tax plan, because they’d receive a significant tax cut.

To Wal-Mart Mom: I am working hard to get Obama elected because he cares about people in your situation and so do I. We CAN take our government back from the fat cats that Bush-McCain have allowed to cheat and steal from the average American taxpayer to the tune of billions and billions of dollars.
For a start: Under Obama’s middle class tax cut, if you earn less than $18,981 you will pay $567 LESS in taxes. If you earn between $18,982 and $37,595 you will pay $892 LESS in taxes. If you earn between $37,596 and $66,354, you will pay $1042 LESS in taxes.

He has many other excellent proposals and will fund them by raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans, back to what they paid under Clinton. To read more about his specific plans go to
http://www.barackobama.com/plan in case you haven’t already been there.
Take heart. The tide is turning. Truth has great power, as the Republicans are learning to their dismay. This isn’t just a campaign; it’s a movement. We WILL succeed with God’s help. May He bless and strengthen you.

As a keen European follower of the American Election 2008 I would like to share my personal opinion why I believe Lynn Forester de Rothschild switched from Hillary Clinton to John McCain. One, it is true Hillary is out of the race and she’s obliged for several reasons to back Barack Obama, sorry but I do not see her backing him 100% from her heart. Two, I also feel that a large percentage of Barack Obama’s fight is for his own ego trip, sorry but his VP nomination, great guy but he will not over power him!, why did he not pick Hillary? Finally three, Sarah Palin has entered into the race and has ignited the campaign with her sheer guts, energy, innovation and belief. That my American sisters and brothers is what lots of us European’s admire in you all. The USA seems to be splitting and in these difficult times people need more than ever to join forces. Best Wishes from my heart, Paulene Angela

I am far from rich, but I am a diehard American that is proud of the freedoms and opportunities that America, and only America, has to offer. Why we would want to take the greatest country in the world and turn it into a socialist third world country is beyond me. Stop looking for the rich to give you something, and try earning something for a change. I lost everything but the clothes on my back when hurricane Katrina hit. I did not rely on government handouts to get me back on my feet. I relied on Faith, Family, and the Desire to be more than I am today so my children can grow up and have a better start for tomorrow. I am just lucky enough to live in a country that gives me the freedom to try.
This is a nice little chart to bring out the different points

CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA 28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN 15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6% – (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that ‘Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.’)

Single making 50K – tax $12,500

Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN - 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA
New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least….New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

I heard this interview on the radio this morning and had to look it up. As a former Emmy Award winning broadcast news producer with a doctorate in political science and a woman I am severely disappointed in Campbell Brown. The fact that I am writing this is a reflection of my outrage.
Her questions were good, her points were excellent but her inability to let the interviewee respond was inexcusable. Reporters should never allow their frustration, emotion or voice to escalate and actually become the story. In this case Brown lost her objectivity, dignity and for a brief moment her temper.
Just a reminder to Brown and to us all, even when you don’t agree with someone, they have the right to talk. After all, isn’t that why we have elections? No matter how much you bully someone or corner them they may never say what you want to hear. Brown was one of my favorites to watch in action, now she ranks down there with Howard Stern. Hope this quick hype in her popularity is worth the price of her journalistic respectability. You would never see Barbra Walters act so outrageous and she has interviewed the most powerful people in the world, asking tough questions and allowing “we the people” to make up our own minds.
As for “we the people,” let us not be swayed by this “catfight”. Press forward with your fact finding of each candidate. And just for fun look up the term “elitist,” for it has little to do with money and more to do with the belief that some people or things are inherently superior to others and deserve preeminence, preferential treatment, or higher rewards because of their superiority. An elitist would never stand for someone to voice their opinion against them now would they…?

I am sick and tired of these people going on all of these shows and NOT answering the questions that are put to them. Lady Rothschild (Im giggling at the sound of that….I mean how big must her ego be….”Lady Rothschild”) obviously made the rounds on all the cable news networks yesterday with her talking points nicely tucked into her breast pocket…..Id like to see more talking heads interupting these bozos and saying…..HEY…I didnt ask you about that…..I asked you ……so on and so forth…..just other day on GMA Cindy McCain refused to answer a question about where the McCains stand on abortion……what gives…..if I had been Robin or Diane in that interview, I would have pressed her and said….hey….people want to know and I would like an answer to the question….I say way to go Campbell…..and to Lady Rothschild….go back to England and cound your money until after this election is over……and dont sit by the phone waiting for Hillary to call…….

I don’t know why Campbell Brown is so angry and unprofessional with the interview. I started watching the interview and cannot watch another second and turned to another channel. Campbell Brown is a bully to her guests that do not agree with her – it is so disappointing and is an outrage to call this woman a journalist. This is an embarrassment and will not listen to Campbell Brown show ever again.

Lumping Bush-McCain together shows your ignorance of McCain’s stand on most issues. Being in the same party does not automatically make you a clone of others in the same party.
Never mind the fact that the Bush tax cuts have allowed the middle class to get much farther, and the wealthy to keep providing jobs and creating new ones. Obama’s plan to tax the rich is bad economics. You take away the gravy-train, you have people at the bottom who starve. The country’s welfare system cannot support all those whom Obama plans to put on the roll, especially when the “fat cats” move out of the country. Do you have any idea how many campaigns are out there with the sole purpose of attracting our wealthy to other countries? What happens when the rich “move out”?
If your job is being out-sourced, blame NAFTA, which was signed by Clinton.
The wealthy already pay almost 90% of all the income tax. How much do you pay, and how much do you get back at the end of the year? You probably get back more than you put in.
Why do you think corporations get tax breaks? To keep them here! NAFTA opened the borders so our corporations could go anywhere in the world. Since even the lowest paid American worker makes more than workers in the rest of the world doing the same job. It makes perfect business sense to go where the profit is the highest.
Use your brains, and stop following the crowd. Think about just what Obama is proposing, it is Socialism, plain and simple. If you like being on the government payroll, and being forced to “volunteer” your services to earn that pay, then you are a true Obamaite. Good luck.
