One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

“After this immediate problem, we’ve got the long-term fundamentals that will really make sure this economy grows”
Ok,your point? Say we have “long term fundamentals” in this context is alot different then saying “the fundamentals ofthe economy are strong.” Sen. Obama is saying that under his leadership the fundamentals to improve this economy will be present. I believe that sometimes sound bites are used loosely by both parties, but Sen. McCains comments, considering the situation at the time was much worse.

Full quote (source Huffington Post):
[We need] a plan that would extend expiring unemployment benefits. For those Americans who have lost their jobs and have been working hard to find a new one, but haven’t found one yet. That’s part of the change we need. And then after this immediate problem, we’ve got the long-term fundamentals that will really make sure this economy grows . Change means tax code that doesn’t reward the lobbyists who wrote it, but the American workers and small businesses that deserve it. As President I am going to eliminate capital gains taxes for small businesses and start-ups.
Is Michelle McGinty bought and paid for by the GOP? Why (oh why) is this blog still up under the Beliefnet banner? At this juncture, she’s just regurgitating GOP talking points…

I agree. Don’t the people at Beliefnet bother to look at what’s going on? Or are they in the tank for the Republicans, too? (You have to wonder when a headline like “Watch Video of Obama’s Pastor” continues to come up every time you hit “blogs” for months after the controversy has died down. They also had the insidious headline “Is Obama a Muslim?” up for a very long time. Both instances strongly suggests there is a real bias on the part of the people in control here.)
I don’t care if Michele is a wannabe Ann Coulter or Michele Malkin. I just think she should stop billing herself as someone who’s looking at politics from a Reformed or even anything resembling a Christian or an ethical perspective. She has devolved into a pure ideologue and is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the sleaziest element in the Republican party, broadcasting their lies ad nauseum. It’s past time for her and for the people in charge to acknowledge that.
