Palin pick invokes “laughter in many newsrooms”

posted by Susan Johnson | 12:09am Monday September 1, 2008

According to Eleanor Clift there was laughter in many newsrooms because the elites in the MSM didn’t consider Palin a serious choice.
Oh, is this the same media who cheered when Obama accepted the Democratic nomination? The media that blathers on and on about being fair and objective? Yeah, we can all see how fair and objective they’ve been during this race.
But it’s clear that McCain is having the last laugh as he rakes in money, support, crowds and acclaim for his choice. Pretty good for a chick from Alaska, huh? Shows you the level of political acumen of the MSM (pretty darn low).
BTW, speaking of low, this one is at the bottom. Evidently, this is the level of political discourse when you have a woman in the race.
Update: OK, I was wrong, Colmes didn’t even come close to bottom when you compare it with this. But given the fact that it’s Daily Kos, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Listening to Palin give an interview on one of the NBC channels I seldom watch, I had the impression she makes a terrific governor for Alaska. I don’t have the impression she grasps a lot of technical detail, and the “they do that with computers and levers” comment gives pause, but Reagan didn’t show a grasp of fine detail either, and Reagan got some good results.
This may be the year that he who laughs best laughs not at all. Of all the many candidates this year–and I’m a Democrat in a state where Republicans are far, far to the right (I’d probably be a Republican in Pennsylvania)–Palin is closest to my kind of people. This may also be the year the more arrogant of the talking heads get their comeuppance.

Is it possible that liking a candidate “because they’re like me.” is not necessarily a good measure. If a candidate reminded me of myself, it would be a negative since I am certain mine would be a pretty sad excuse for a presidency indeed.

As long as you’re filing this under “arrogance”, you might want to discuss the Reformed perspective, family values and this story from the Alaska Daily News: http://www.adn.com/626/story/382864.html, especially the “early arrival” section on flying home after having her amniotic sack break.

I AGREE with ELEANOR CLIFT, there was laughter…but not for the reason she attributes. The laughter was at the immediate revelation of the consequences for the LEFTY LIB DUMMYCRATS that once again failed to live up to their RHETORIC of feminism and the dramatic shift in the landscape of the race.
The race is now quite interesting and the laughter is the delight in the surprise. I think the news rooms are quite happy for the opportunity. Heck, even Bill O’Reilly couldn’t contain his delighted laughter.
Right now, even before the GOP convention, the bounce for the OBAMANATION is sinking and in several polls, MCCAIN/PALIN are AHEAD.
The LEFTY LIB MARXIST DUMMYCRATS are doomed. Along with the newsrooms, at the delight of the change in predictable politics, and the GOP there is one other couple laughing…The Clintons. BUH BYE Lefty Libs!

Well of course they are laughing. It is impossible to take her seriously as a person even if she does get McCain elected.
And what is growing in that hair? (Obviously not a brain.)

Boy, grade-school-guy just proved again that you can dress him up , but you can’t take him anywhere.
There was laughter in newsrooms all over this country, because, as even the Repubs are starting to figure out , this woman was not vetted, and Palin is in no way, shape or form qualified to be President of the United States. And that is the major qualification for the job.
You have a candidate who is 72. He’s had cancer two or three times, and melanoma can come back. ( I know more about that than I wish I did.) And as a backup, you pick somebody who was governor of Alaska for less than two years, and has not one bit of foreign policy background.
By contrast , Obama has been on the Senate foreign relations committee, and visited many countries in that capacity. Obama has drafted and gotten passed major national legislation, including legislation to stop the spread of nukes and legislation to help our veterans. And Biden has been in the senate 30 years.
Now the Bushies have a lot of experience too- but it’s manly experience in messing things up. Their record tells that story clearly for anyone who is paying attention.
