Tax cheat, Charles Rangel, calls Palin “disabled”

posted by Susan Johnson | 12:27pm Saturday September 20, 2008

I love Pete King’s comment that Rangel is just another liberal Democrat who can’t stand a strong woman on the ticket (and yeah, I know he was a Hillary supporter — it’s still funny :-) It shows the sensitivity that the left has to the disabled. The mask has slipped off the Democrat party and what’s underneath isn’t very pretty. All the world can see their hatred for average Americans. Such a lowlife like Palin thinking she has what it takes to be president, her experience is beneath them since she was the mayor of a small town and the governor of a small state. She’s not part of the Washington insiders, you know, the ones who’ve been getting rich at the tax payer’s expense. You know, the ones who write the laws for “thee but not for me.” The ones who would quake in their boots if anyone would really reform the system.BTW, here’s Leno’s take on Rangel and his problems with the tax code. Maybe if this becomes more of an issue, Pelosi will remove him from the House Ways and Means Committee. Do the Democrats really want a tax cheat in charge of the tax code? I guess if he remains the chairman, the answer is yes.(via)

Even though Democrats once again will be faced with the task of cleaning up the sorry, stinking mess that the Republicans have left behind, I will rejoice to see this bunch of liars, crooks and hypocrites pack their bags.
It really is a “You can’t fool all of the people all of the time” moment in American history.

Dear Reaganite in NY:
As I have said before, I see no reason to pay the slightest attention to people who voted for the worst president in history. Twice. Now you want us to believe that Barack Obama is the anti-Christ because he has had political dealings with a politician who made a partisan remark.
Good luck with that one.
In the meantime, people should know that Sarah Palin is a lousy steward. (Guess that’s not included in her Christian vocabulary, either. Let’s see: strike “do not bear false witness”; strike “avoiding even the appearance of evil”; strike “blessed are the peacemakers”; the list goes on and on.)
Remember that pretty lake that her house is on, the one she posed in front of in between her attempts to remember all the answers her handlers crammed into her head for her interview with Charlie?
Thanks to her, that pretty lake is dead. Just like, God willing, the Palin-McCain campaign will shortly be. R.I.P.

Sarah Palin is a beautiful woman of character, integrity, poise, intelligence, achievement, spirituality, and traditional values. That is the reason LEFTY LIB women hate her. LEFTY LIB women, by a vast majority, are women whose lives were and are lived as losers. They usually are social rejects which they blame on society and not themselves and their inability to accept both their personal deficits and assets and fit into the real world.
Palin, on the other hand, early on knew what she could and couldn’t do and achieved personal success based on her strengths and not the strengths of others as MOST LEFTY LIB women do. Palin understood the world, found her vaying niches based on a mature understanding of herself and the world around her and excelled.
Palin is so great a threat to the FACADE of the lives of LEFTY LIB women that, as has been reported, LEFTY LIB FEMBOTS who are viewed as the voices of the facade called FEMINISM, have said they are filled with rage to the point of murderous ideas toward Palin (Hotair.com has a great article on this).
Palin is everything most LEFTY LIB women never have been and never will be. She is exceptional where LEFTY LIB FEMBOTS are most often unpleasant, ranting, raging, raving, lunatic fringe types that want to govern through the vehicles of their distorted and dysfunctional world view of anger, resentment, political correctness and general antagonism toward anyone that opposes them.
Just read the vulgarity, the raging storms of hatred and petty jealously that has grown into monstrous spewing by LEFTY LIB women (and men for that matter but WOMEN by a grossly imbalanced majority) toward Palin and you will see just why Palin is so hated by LEFTY LIB women. LEFTY LIB women are void of character, poise, grace, and dignity and Palin is all that and more and the greater her success and achievements the greater LEFTY LIB women are at risk of being exposed for the frauds they are.
Next Please!

OK, so I read the link you provided — the story from Salon.com. Pretty biased. However, it turns out that the lake you cited has been “dead” (or “impaired” to use the nomenclature of the Alaska environmental agency that rates the quality of the state’s lakes) since the early 1990s —- WELL BEFORE Sarah Palin was Mayor of Wasilla.

What is your definition of “average Americans?” It seems like it means “people who think the way I do.”
I’ll answer
“average American”…those Obama says cling to guns, God and religion…the bitter ones. The ones who Biden says don’t know what to do with “really smart people”…the ones who wouldn’t recognize really smart people because they “don’t live in my neighborhood”.
Would that include John McCain with his however many homes?
I would exclude most politicians. Including McCain, Obama, Biden…it is what explains the attraction of Palin to many folks…she’s “normal”.
Would that include long-time Senator and 90% of the time with Bush supporter John McCain?
McCain, who votes with Republicans (which is why we’re conservatives, not liberals). It should not surprise you when we favor a person who is in line with our conservative beliefs. FWIW, those conservative beliefs are why Bush’s ratings are in the toilet, even with conservatives…maybe especially with conservatives.
If McCain votes the conservative line 90% of the time, I don’t have a problem with that.
Who has done a better job providing services for the disabled and for “average Americans,” Democrats or Republicans?
The states. The people. The school district where I work has a program for mentally and/or physically impaired adults (this is where I work). We have several “community rooms” – half of them are in areas that have been donated by local churches. Small businesses (many of them run by Christians) work with the school to hire our students. We do laundry, cleaning and food-prep for Christian-run retirement homes, we clean churches, we work with restaurants, we do collating and other office work for a local Christian hospital.
This is the difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals want the federal government to take responsibility. Conservatives have (at least) a better understanding that (according to the Constitution) if it is not the Fed’s job, it belongs to the states and to the people.
Conservatives (should) know that simply throwing more money at a problem doesn’t solve it. Let the states and the people loose.
What kind of reform are you looking for, specifically? And how successful have people outside of Washington been at achieving reform in the past?
Look at the states. Six years ago, Jennifer Gramholm (D) said as part of her “campaign promises”, “just watch…we’re gonna knock your socks off.”
Michigan has the worst unemployment rate in the country and the worst “single state economy.” Consider our socks knocked right off (as well as the shirts off our backs, thanks to the new tax increases.)
Are you familiar with the expression “Hate the sin, love the sinner?” Why do you descend to insults and name-calling instead of looking for common interests and proposing honorable solutions based on data and experience?
Look at the comment thread. Count how many times Michele calls her commenters names…vs. how many times commenter’s call her names.
Insults
-You aren’t mentally or physically going to make it to the election
-mean spirited and of no value
-more and more vicious as their poll numbers drop lower and lower.
-liars, crooks and hypocrites
-Michele McGinty is a perfect example of what is wrong
-why don’t you have the RNC write into the platform that we all get rounded up and put and jail and praise Jesus we have a one-party state.
-RIGHTY CON…just like HITLER was.

Most recently, I’ve stated here that (Allen v. McCain) neither are members of the “I’ve lived a better life than you” club. I’ve also agreed with yelladawg that most Americans would not condemn abortion in the case of rape or incest. I indicated at that time that (unlike Palin) I also would not condemn a woman who only saw that choice (although I still believe that abortion is wrong, I believe I said that I can see how a woman could be in that position and would not scold or condemn her.

Actually, the headline says that the blog is about “politics and current events from a reformed perspective”. I see a lot of disagreement with issues, with politicians, with some very accurate descriptions (yes, I’d call Rangel a tax cheat. If that shoe fits, let him wear it.)

Oh, I am sad for you. My definition of “average American” includes the child of immigrants who makes it to the finals of the National Spelling Bee, the kid from the inner city on the wait list for the after-school program to find an alternative to the streets, the single mother on food stamps while she studies for a better job, the nice gay couple who have the block’s best jack o’lantern, the cab driver who politely asks if we can stop so he can say his prayers. My view of America encompasses and embraces all Americans, and I am proud to share this great country with all of them.
McCain, who votes with Republicans (which is why we’re conservatives, not liberals).
I do not know what that means. Is he a “maverick” or not? What is this reform and change he keeps talking about when he has consistently supported the status quo?

You always have to let the people on the other side define themselves. I do not know of any liberal since about 1940 who would agree with that definition. And by the way, if you look at the record of corruption and inefficiency, the states have not done better than the federal government overall.
Look at the comment thread. Count how many times Michele calls her commenters names…vs. how many times commenter’s call her names.
As they say, two wrongs don’t make a right. You are the ambassador for your beliefs and it is up to you and to anyone who expresses a view to set the standard of civilized and constructive discourse; it is especially important for conservatives who must battle the stereotype of not caring about anyone not like them. I am sad for you that you must bolster your views by insisting that anyone who does not agree must have bad motives. I know you — and Michelle — can do better. “Do the Democrats really want a tax cheat in charge of the tax code?”
well, do republicans really want a tax cheat in charge of the country? let’s not forget that mccain is a tax cheat. only when it was reported in the press, did he pay back taxes on his properties (oh, that’s right they weren’t really his, he’s just a squatter on his wife’s riches). the mccains were 4 years in default and owed over $8,486. i think rangel should step down, and mccain should follow his lead.
“It shows the sensitivity that the left has to the disabled. The mask has slipped off the Democrat party and what’s underneath isn’t very pretty. All the world can see their hatred for average Americans.”
no it doesn’t. when i worked with the disabled at a non-profit, we worked together as a group… and the vast majority of us were left of center. not like republicans who hold up a kid with down’s as a prop and proclaim that all of a sudden there’s an advocate in the white house. don’t be fooled, check mccain’s record. i know from experience that most programs to help people with disabilities comes from the very earmarks that mccain rails against and has promised to kill.
i’ve got news for you – i’m an average american. so is my mostly republican family and my mostly democrat family-in-law. we’re all middle class, living in our average homes, with an average wage, in an average state. we don’t hate each other, we don’t hate ourselves. and those of us who are voting for obama are doing so because we connect with what he’s saying and with his record, and think that mccain is a dinosaur and a republican washington insider who’s clearly out of touch from the middle class. palin is no different.
“Such a lowlife like Palin thinking she has what it takes to be president, her experience is beneath them since she was the mayor of a small town and the governor of a small state. She’s not part of the Washington insiders, you know, the ones who’ve been getting rich at the tax payer’s expense. You know, the ones who write the laws for ‘thee but not for me.’ The ones who would quake in their boots if anyone would really reform the system.”
i have no problem with a mayor of a small town and a governor of a small (population) state being vp (i guess you forgot again that she’s not running for president). the issue is who is most qualified. and the problem is that mccain thought that he could pull one over on the american people with a surprise pick and then accused everyone of attacking her when vetting started. the problem was amplified when they lied about her record and embellished her resume to paint her as an “outsider” or “maverick” that she’s not. she didn’t sell the governor’s plane on e-bay, nor did she sell it for a profit like mccain keeps saying. she was all in favor of the bridge to nowhere until it became a political liability. she billed taxpayers for time that she spent at home, and for travel costs to drag her family around with her. she promised things to her constituents and didn’t deliver. she has no problem with earmarks and pork barrel spending as long as it’s coming to her state, or her city. she has radical religious views that are outside of the mainstream. her husband has anti-american views that should be examined (the right made it an issue when they went after mrs. obama when she said something about being proud of america).

“All the world can see their hatred for average Americans.”
What an utter crock. Who do you think votes for the Democrats, buddy? The people who clean toilets and drive buses and teach in every school and university in this country; the ones who nurse people in hospitals and old age homes and work in labs; the truckers and the artists and scientists and social workers; the single moms and the pastors and priests and the hotel maids and the poets and the cops on the beat and the waitresses and the community college students; the small business owners and the farmers and the immigrants and the public defenders.
So don’t tell me we harbor “hatred” for average Americans. We ARE “average Americans” if by that you mean Americans who care about their families, their neighborhoods, their country, their fellow human beings and the earth.
You should be embarrassed. But somehow I doubt that you are.
