Tax cheat, Charles Rangel, calls Palin "disabled"

Saturday September 20, 2008

Categories: Politics

I love Pete King's comment that Rangel is just another liberal Democrat who can't stand a strong woman on the ticket (and yeah, I know he was a Hillary supporter -- it's still funny :-)

It shows the sensitivity that the left has to the disabled. The mask has slipped off the Democrat party and what's underneath isn't very pretty. All the world can see their hatred for average Americans. Such a lowlife like Palin thinking she has what it takes to be president, her experience is beneath them since she was the mayor of a small town and the governor of a small state. She's not part of the Washington insiders, you know, the ones who've been getting rich at the tax payer's expense. You know, the ones who write the laws for "thee but not for me." The ones who would quake in their boots if anyone would really reform the system.

BTW, here's Leno's take on Rangel and his problems with the tax code. Maybe if this becomes more of an issue, Pelosi will remove him from the House Ways and Means Committee. Do the Democrats really want a tax cheat in charge of the tax code? I guess if he remains the chairman, the answer is yes.

Jim Haley writes: "Mr. Rangel is a typical politician--above the law Thinks he can cheat on his taxes and belittle others he feels are beneath him. Way to go Mr. Democrat"

By your own defintion, then, Sarah Palin is a typical politician. She clearly believes she and her husband are above the law. Think they can refuse a subpoena and belittles others she feels are beneath her ("I guess a mayor is sort of like a community organizer," she said, her voice fairly dripping with sarcasm, "except that a mayor has actual responsibilities." Way to go, Mrs. Fascist Party Doll Republican!"

LA Times: "Alaskans Angered that Palin is Off-Limits" 9/21/08

"Palin had welcomed the Legislature's inquiry and promised to cooperate.

"But she now says the state personnel board, not the Legislature, is the proper venue to probe what happened. The board consists of three GOP appointees."

I am sad for you that you must bolster your views by insisting that anyone who does not agree must have bad motives.

Flat out lie.

The "you" was plural -- directed at Michelle (she insults and taunts the people she writes about in a way that is sometimes hateful -- full of "snickers" and "yawns"), your defense of a "tit for tat" or "they're worse" assessment of the comments, and your unsupportable and insulting characterization of the other side as being in favor of "throwing money at" problems.

You want to be part of the solution? Then how about showing a little grace and respect and acknowledging our common purpose? And insisting on better behavior from the commenters who are on your side as well as those with whom you do not agree instead of listing only those you call "liberal" as offenders?

"Do the Democrats really want a tax cheat in charge of the tax code?"

well, do republicans really want a tax cheat in charge of the country? let's not forget that mccain is a tax cheat. only when it was reported in the press, did he pay back taxes on his properties (oh, that's right they weren't really his, he's just a squatter on his wife's riches). the mccains were 4 years in default and owed over $8,486. i think rangel should step down, and mccain should follow his lead.

"It shows the sensitivity that the left has to the disabled. The mask has slipped off the Democrat party and what's underneath isn't very pretty. All the world can see their hatred for average Americans."

no it doesn't. when i worked with the disabled at a non-profit, we worked together as a group... and the vast majority of us were left of center. not like republicans who hold up a kid with down's as a prop and proclaim that all of a sudden there's an advocate in the white house. don't be fooled, check mccain's record. i know from experience that most programs to help people with disabilities comes from the very earmarks that mccain rails against and has promised to kill.

i've got news for you - i'm an average american. so is my mostly republican family and my mostly democrat family-in-law. we're all middle class, living in our average homes, with an average wage, in an average state. we don't hate each other, we don't hate ourselves. and those of us who are voting for obama are doing so because we connect with what he's saying and with his record, and think that mccain is a dinosaur and a republican washington insider who's clearly out of touch from the middle class. palin is no different.

"Such a lowlife like Palin thinking she has what it takes to be president, her experience is beneath them since she was the mayor of a small town and the governor of a small state. i have no problem with a mayor of a small town and a governor of a small (population) state being vp (i guess you forgot again that she's not running for president). the issue is who is most qualified. and the problem is that mccain thought that he could pull one over on the american people with a surprise pick and then accused everyone of attacking her when vetting started. the problem was amplified when they lied about her record and embellished her resume to paint her as an "outsider" or "maverick" that she's not. she didn't sell the governor's plane on e-bay, nor did she sell it for a profit like mccain keeps saying. she was all in favor of the bridge to nowhere until it became a political liability. she billed taxpayers for time that she spent at home, and for travel costs to drag her family around with her. she promised things to her constituents and didn't deliver. she has no problem with earmarks and pork barrel spending as long as it's coming to her state, or her city. she has radical religious views that are outside of the mainstream. her husband has anti-american views that should be examined (the right made it an issue when they went after mrs. obama when she said something about being proud of america).

"All the world can see their hatred for average Americans."

What an utter crock. Who do you think votes for the Democrats, buddy? The people who clean toilets and drive buses and teach in every school and university in this country; the ones who nurse people in hospitals and old age homes and work in labs; the truckers and the artists and scientists and social workers; the single moms and the pastors and priests and the hotel maids and the poets and the cops on the beat and the waitresses and the community college students; the small business owners and the farmers and the immigrants and the public defenders.

So don't tell me we harbor "hatred" for average Americans. We ARE "average Americans" if by that you mean Americans who care about their families, their neighborhoods, their country, their fellow human beings and the earth.

You should be embarrassed. But somehow I doubt that you are.
