Dobson's nonendorsement endorsement of McCain
So, Dobson finally endorsed as much as he legally could McCain on his radio program: A clear go-ahead signal to millions of evangelicals across the country from Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman of FocDr James Dobson founder and chairman...
Keep banging the drum, Michele. You're doing a fine job.

Well, now we know what James Dodson is really about
Since he has chosen to support mccain, he is telling us
He is pro-deceit
He is pro-hate
He is pro-charachter assassination
Apparently, James Dobson prefers hate to love
McCain's "family values":

"Some of those sheep have chosen Obama and doing so doesn't make them any less Evangelical (yes, it's true, you can be Christian and vote for a Democrat)."
Only if you're willing to throw the Biblical teachings about respecting human life out the window. I guess "Thou shalt not murder" now only applies after birth but not before?
God knows us and has a plan for us while we were in our mother's womb... and Obama destroys that. Not sure how you can say you're a Christian and slep at night after that...
dobson endorses mccain... yet another reason to vote for obama.
dobson endorsed bush, but he also endorsed huckabee in the primaries earlier this year (he took offense with mccain who tried to stifle the agents of hate and intolerance -- the likes of dobson, falwell, and robertson -- with restrictions that mccain-feingold placed on their ability to mix church & state issues from the pulpit to their followers). he tries to use what little influence he has left way more than he leads us to believe. sorry, anyone who not only might have mistakenly voted for bush in 2000, and not only gladly pulled the lever for bush again in 2004, but actually endorsed the third worst rated president in our history is impotent. his endorsement of mccain is like rat poison... and mccain is the rat.
"Only if you're willing to throw the Biblical teachings about respecting human life out the window. I guess "Thou shalt not murder" now only applies after birth but not before?"
Actually, it is generally translated "Thou shalt not kill". Republicans seem to have no difficulty throwing this teaching out the window when it comes to war.
Why does any thinking conservative care about whom Dobson endorses?
Dobson is the quintessential neo-conservative who has little use for the Constitution of the United States unless he can fit it or amend it to his views. As an influential supporter of G.W. Bush, he is perhaps in part responsible for Bush's election and the resulting horrible conditions in which this country finds itself both fiscally and spiritually. It's my hope that the good doctor returns to his first love, family counseling, and leaves the political arena permanently. He's much wiser in his chosen field than he is in politics.
Steve, that's right on the money.
"Some of those sheep have chosen Obama and doing so doesn't make them any less Evangelical (yes, it's true, you can be Christian and vote for a Democrat)"
THIS DEAF READER WHO LOVES YOU COULDN'T BELIEVE HIS EYES WHEN HE READ THIS, SO I ASKED A FRIEND TO SIGN IT FOR ME. WOW!!MICHELLE!! I NEVER REALIZED YOU WERE SO, HOW YOU SAY IT, OPEN-MINDED.
Who in their right mind would think you needed the teamsters to win Pennsylvania?
What political alternate reality do you exist in? Elections are won by capturing large voting blocks and the candidate who can appeal the most to catholics or evangelicals has made a tremendous score.
"Believe" it or not there are millions of people who listen to this guy and consider him a spiritual advisor.
Granted, he's not as passionate as Jeremiah Wright, but few clerics are.
Did you think he would do anything else? And if Dobson was truly "Pro-Family" he would see that John "Bush III" has never had a pro-family record. He has always been a pro-business Senator and will continue as President.
Obama's record has always been pro-family, pro job and pro America. So how can Dobson say that it is clear to him that McCain is the better choice? It is because he, like other zealots only see the Abortion issue an the only issue on the table.
It is clear to me that if I want a president that will care for all Americans and restore our Nation it would not be John McCain.
Pardon me, but I could really give a rat's patooty what candidate Dobson 'approves of'. Ditto any other 'religious leader'. Dobson can write well and is very good at his 'day job' of family counseling, but perhaps he should leave the punditry to the pundits (who I also don't really listen to, or not all of them).
I don't appreciate the implication from either side of the aisle that we need to be 'told' who to vote for. We can read the same articles and see the same debates, ads, etc. that these 'leaders' can, so I don't see that they really know more than we do. Unless their career is politics or something related, which it isn't. But even if it were, I go to church to hear the word of God; I turn on the TV or read CNN.com if I want politics.
I guess in general I am uncomfortable with religion and politics getting mixed so closely as they seem to be when we hear about politics in our church sermons or on our religious broadcasts. It doesn't take any more than a look back in history (and not even back that far...Taliban, anyone?) to see how both institutions get marred when the two mix too much...and it is usually the church that suffers the most. I really do not want to see that. Many people in my part of the country (Bible Belt US) seem to equate Christianity with Republican politics, thus the claim that one cannot be a Christian and a Democrat (or non-Republican, really) at the same time. This is so false, I don't even know where to begin. No offense to Repubs, I am married to one and the child of another, but some of the rhetoric I have heard from the so-called Religious Right scares me, and I am a Christian. I don't even want to think of how much it would scare me if I weren't.
Based on the story out of LA of the man who murdered his family and took his own life due to financial troubles, I imagine that abortions will rise, no matter who takes office.

i hope that you're wrong, moonshadow. i read that story early tuesday, and it's a sad thing. certainly the country can't continue on a path that so many people believe to be in the wrong direction. the nation mired in two wars that have gone on longer than most, people losing their jobs, losing their homes, not being able to afford the health care they need - it takes a toll on the nation's psyche and completely devastates the individual. keep the faith and stay hopeful.
keep the faith and stay hopeful.
Thanks, I'll try. I'm not of good use to anybody otherwise.
The Pro-Life Vote put a president in the White House that went on to fight unjust wars killing thousands of innocent civilian and troops in the name of oil and global power. Now, we are told to vote for the guy who sang "bomb bomb bomb Iran" at a fund raiser and threatened to annihilate North Korea.
It is sad when you are lied to by those you trust. But when Jesus says he is our shepherd he really doesn't mean we ought to think like sheep. We need to use the mind he gave us to think for ourselves.
Oh, Dobson gave his approval to vote for McCain?
Yawn.
Since I'm single with no kids, I don't even listen to him for that kind of advice. When did he become a political advisor?
He's not my pastor. I don't read his books or listen to his programs. I don't wear a WWDD (What Would Dobson Do?) bracelet.
He should stick to advising parents on how to burp their babies.
I think that the words Christians or believers should have been used instead of Evangelicals. Those who believe in the bible and want to show their faith in what God says. Knowing that our government should be set up with honorable men and women who will uphold his laws and commandments. Yes, those commandments are in both the new and old testaments. God does not favor war or the death of the innocent. We are to pray for those in government and the rulers of the land. Wisdom from God is the key and answer for this country and all countries. We are blessed to have freedom to speak our opinions and the right to fight for those freedoms that was instated by the founders of this land. I want Godly standards.
Thanks
