I'm not "stoning" Sarah Palin. Like millions of other voters, I question her qualifications to be V-P and very possibly President of the United States. I question her record of secrecy, cronyism, vindictiveness and very possibly abuse of power. I question her willingness to lie repeatedly even after her lies have been exposed. But most of all, I question whether she has the wisdom or the temperament to have the lives of the entire nation and possibly the world in her hands.

I'm sure you would like to stone Brian Williams, but I think he put his finger on what worries people most about Sarah Palin.

But how should a person feel about John McCain in having made this choice? To me it seems like we're in such a mess now here at home and around the world that do we really want a beginner in the passenger's seat?

That's also the job description we're talking about here, and that's part of this choice we get to make in 32 days."

I'm starting to wish I was a single-issue voter, so as to spare myself the back-n-forth-n-back I've done on the candidates this past week or so ...

Liberals frantic? No, we are elated. Palin and McCain are frantic as they spread lies and innuendos about to cause fear among the people. Only this time the 9ndependents are not listening to the lies, they have heard them before and ended up voting for Bush. They won't make that mistake again. Check the polls, Independents are swing three to one toward Obama now.

And as a Evangelical Christian, Palin should know that it is in God's will to tell the truth and its a sin to spread false rumours.

They are true. I saw the video clips tonight on the news. Even McCain had the the vestigial grace to wince for a split-second when the man in his crowd responded to McCain's question "Who is the REAL Barack Obama?" by shouting "a terrorist!" and drawing cheers. But McCain lost his chance to preserve that tiny bit of goodness in his soul. He said nothing. He stood there and said NOTHING. He has sold his soul, and anyone who supports this ticket and fails to speak out against these tactics is complicit.

At one of the Palin's speeches today in Florida, she was introduced by a man from the Lee Country sheriff's office, Mike Scott, in uniform, who shouted about "Barack HUSSEIN Obama!" and spoke of how the McCain-Palin ticket would defeat him. At another speech, according to Washington post reporter Dana Milbank, this happened:

"It was time to revive the allegation, made over the weekend, that Obama `pals around' with terrorists, in this case Bill Ayers, late of the Weather Underground. Many independent observers say Palin's allegations are a stretch; Obama served on a Chicago charitable board with Ayers, now an education professor, and has condemned his past activities.

"`Now it turns out, one of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers,' Palin said.

"`Boooo!' said the crowd.

"`And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, "launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,"' she continued.

"`Boooo!' the crowd repeated.

"`Kill him!' proposed one man in the audience."

There is a strategy here. Republicans can't win on the issues so they have to attack Obama personally, have to raise sinister questions about him (despite the fact that every detail of his personal and political history has been scrutinized for four years now) and create a shadowy "mystery" around him that will make people afraid. Who is the REAL Barack Obama? His middle name is Hussein! He pals around with terrorists! He's really a Muslim! He's dark-skinned and has a foreign-sounding last name! He's not a real American! Now they want to search his donor lists to see if they can find any Arab names on it.

They stop short of actually CALLING him a terrorist because it's far more effective to throw all these elements out there and let the voters draw the "obvious" conclusion. Let the guy in the crowd shout "he's a terrorist!' Let he guy in the crowd shout "Kill him!" While you wash your hands and act as if you had nothing to do with it.

This is depraved, corrupt, putrescent. It stinks of moral rot. It reeks of spiritual gangrene. It goes so far beyond the pale that anyone whose sense of right and wrong has not been totally vaporized should be shocked and appalled. FOR GOD'S SAKE, FOR THE SAKE OF OUR COUNTRY AND OUR COMMON FUTURE, IF YOU ARE A REPUBLICAN OR AN INDEPENDENT TELL THEM TO STOP OR YOU WILL DENY THEM YOUR VOTE. If this strategy should work--though I doubt that it will and pray that it won't--it would mean the death of everything good about America. It will make no difference at all who runs next time, or ever. We will have lost everything that matters most.

dear god. i watched the video of mccain's riot inciting. he clearly heard the guy yell "terrorist!" answering mccain when he asked "who is the real barack obama?" he heard it, so did cindy, and so did the audience behind them both. the laughs, the approving sneers... sickening and frightening. we've seen this sort of thing play out before.

i've been reading that simmering hatred building in the blogosphere, including here (trying to paint obama as a terrorist by linking him with ayers, and with hamas, and by yelling his middle name, hussein) but never have i seen mccain and palin incite this sort of reaction and then condone and approve of it from their live audiences.

tonight i pray for our country and for obama and his family. and i pray that mccain and palin will change their strategy to focus on the problems that we have and away from their dangerous path.

i disagree with conservatives on a lot of things, that's true. and i happen to agree with some of the foundations of conservatism. but i've NEVER thought that you should be silenced. on the other hand, there are some (like guy) who i wish would just go away because they have nothing to offer.

However, I posted source material (a link to the Alaskan agency that has been responsible for reimbursing crime victims in response to Yelladawg's "and crime victimes can't get reimbursed!" [and] a link to the minutes of the Alaskan state legislature where the deputy director testified before the legislature that he found no (ZERO) cases where a victim was billed for a rape kit. Insurance companies, yes. Victims, no.

No, what is on record is that Wasilla billed the insurance companies. The law that was passed extended to prohibiting billing insurance companies.
