One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1. She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life. A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments.
The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others.
Through it, I have seen people reach out

A month ago it might have worked. But right now McCain needs to be pushing his own economic plan and it has to be a good one.
And praying for the Bradley Effect to be a lot bigger than anyone expects!
The simple fact is that economic troubles always favor the party that does not hold the White House and it does not matter whom is running or which party it is. In 1980 the Republicans could have run Lenin’s dog and won. The country just got lucky and got Reagan. In 1992 the Democrats could have run Dukakis again and won and that was mild downturn.
But the lesson that I hope the country learns from this nightmare is that never again shall a sitting Senator be allowed to be President because neither one of them inspires any confidence. Of course that may change once one of them takes office. After all, who was less qualified to be President than Abraham Lincoln, who could not even be elected to the Senate?

“Elsewhere, Sen. John McCain’s practice session for the second presidential debate was cut short when his pants burst into flame.” (Andy Borowitz, in case you didn’t catch my earlier post)
Hey, Michele, it’s OVER. McCain grabbed the Third Rail yesterday with both hands when one of his “economic advisers” (quotation marks intentional) told the Wall Street Journal that McCain will cut Medicare and Medicaid.
I repeat: McCain will cut Medicaid and Medicare.
There goes Florida. And the votes of 99% of people nearing or in retirement.
Dead Man Walking tonight.

“And praying for the Bradley Effect to be a lot bigger than anyone expects!”
while i’m sure that this is on mccain’s bucket list, i really hope that the larger part of america is not praying such things, as that would be equivalent to praying that we are still a nation of racists.
mccain threw out a doozie tonight. he said that the government should buy out all of the failed mortgages, to the tune of $300B or more. and who’s the one talking about out of control spending now? where does he expect to get the money without raising any taxes? while it shows his ability to throw out ideas, they’re all bad.

“he said that the government should buy out all of the failed mortgages, to the tune of $300B or more”
And he also said he would freeze spending. Doesn’t quite add up.

“Doesn’t quite add up.”
that pretty much sums up his entire can of campaign promises.
