The RNC's new ad made me seasick!
Don't watch if you have motion sickness because you might get a little nauseous like I did. Maybe that's the effect they were looking for, the thought of an Obama presidency makes us nauseous but I think the ads a...
Hey Michele, here's a free apostrophe - '. It belongs in the word "ads" (as in "I think the ad's a waste of time.")
Speaking of wastes of money, I'm surprised to see B'net still pays you to type this drivel. Couldn't they afford to give you spellcheck too?
Hi Michelle,
As someone who came of age in a Reformed Church (PCA), I'm wondering if you a get a lot of responses from Reformed Christians who are supporting Obama. I for one definitely find that my studies in the Bible have led me to reject the conservative Christian political positions as being contrary to the Gospel -- are you hearing from a lot of others like me?
I'm going to disagree with you, Michele. It's a psychological effect similar to Pavlov's dog. The only name used was Obama. There is a large number of people who get seasick. They will link the name Obama to the feeling of nausea they got while watching this commercial. Most people won't be able to explain it or make the connection, they will just get that feeling. It subconscious. Because of that, it is an effective commercial.
Actually, the ad didn't make me nauseous.
The thought of any more Republicans in power, after the way they've messed up the country- that's enough to make any sane person sick.
The ad also makes me think of how at sea the Bushies are when it comes to intelligent policies. And how Bush governs like he's three sheets to the wind, and spends worse than a drunken sailor.
The Republicans used to have a sure hand at the wheel when they had people like Eisenhower. But now they've practically shipwrecked the country.
Bush's presidency has been like the Titanic, except the Titanic didn't steer straight for the iceberg.
Ya' know, when McCain has been pilot the result has been a crash--twice. I don't know that I would run this ad.
I don't think the ad is effective because it draws attention to the fact that the country isn't in the best shape right now. This tends to work against the party of the incumbent.
For some reason, the phrase, "Torpedo loss!" comes to mind.
"...the thought of an Obama presidency makes us nauseous..."
Really? Why? Because Obama actually promotes the teachings of Christ? Just once, I'd like to get a legitimate reply to this question. Why do you "Christians" ignore this passage from Luke 18:25?
“For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” -- Jesus Christ
For all your blustery anti-tax rants, you forget about the community organizer whom you claim to worship. Or do you just cherry-pick the things he said that fit your narrow, greedy viewpoint?
Hypocrites.
Gillian, Christ did not come to earth to be a "community organizer". Christ is Immanuel, God In Flesh who visited this earth to be the once-for-all perfect sacrifice for those who believe.
Christ is the Messiah. Obama is a "community organizer" (are you sure you want to bring ACORN into this again?)
Christ taught giving to the "least of these" - let me know when Obama's "least of these" extends to babies who were born alive as a result of a botched abortion. Would Christ have listened to a nurse who held a born alive baby while he died in a dirty laundry room...and then vote against even letting the bill come to the floor of the Senate for a vote?
You should read the whole context of the single verse you cited. It is in regards to a rich young ruler who wanted to know how to have eternal life.
The instruction was: Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven
Gillian, have you done this? Or are you the hypocrite for using this passage against some, but not following it yourself?
Gillian, have you sold all that you own, and have you given it to the poor?
What "community organizer whom you claim to worship?" Certainly not Obama!
"Why do you "Christians" ignore this passage from Luke 18:25?
“For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” -- Jesus Christ"
Are you implying that the rich can't enter the kingdom of God therefore we shouldn't support tax cuts?
BTW, do you think this verse excludes Obama from the kingdom of God?
"are you sure you want to bring ACORN into this again?"
go ahead. we're still waiting for those numbers. how many people are caught casting an illegal vote every 2 years? how many people are denied to vote legally because of republican interference in the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS?
"a nurse who held a born alive baby while he died in a dirty laundry room"
that had to be the stupidest nurse ever. why didn't she save the baby? why didn't she take him out of that dirty laundry room? why didn't she give the baby back to the mother and force the mother to take the baby? why didn't she take the baby and care for it herself? i guess it makes for a good story for fundies.
