Not sure I understand Charles.

I think he means, "Retire, before being fired!" That was my tack years ago, anyway.

It's an ok story, a little sentimental. I'm glad the guy's cancer is in remission.

But, sure, sometimes getting fired is the best thing that can happen to a person - a bit of an αναστασια.

Moonshadow, το γράψιμο στα αγγλικά είναι καλύτερο για εκείνους που δεν έχουν τα διακριτικά σημάδια στους υπολογιστές τους. Seminary student's hazard, you know. Now let's see what Beliefnet's font does to it.

Yes, English is better, I suppose, for the reason you give, but I just assume that, if it displays correctly on my computer, it does for everyone.

And a word or two now and again doesn't hurt, does it? I'm trying to teach myself, too, you see, because I can't see me attending seminary ... ever.

Charis ... speaking of ... ( happy? :-) )

I enjoyed reading the adversity story - very inspiring!

Being laid off or fired from your job can be traumatic, especially if you had been barely keeping up with your bills and have a family to support. And being middle-aged makes the situation worse.

While going through trauma, it helps to have someone who's been through the trauma as your guide. You may come to see this person as a guardian angel - a rescuer that's come to pull you out of your black hole!

During trauma, it helps to make a to-do list, as Peter recommended, to help you focus on getting out of the traumatic situation.

As Peter advised, talent always rises to the top. And if you market yourself properly, you'll be discovered soon.

Peter further advised that preparation is crucial. Preparation is what distinguishes a winner from the herd.

Peter is indeed a guardian angel. That's what adversity does to mere mortals!
