Obama already acting like a press shy celebrity

posted by Susan Johnson | 7:50am Saturday November 1, 2008

He tried to avoid the press traveling with him and told them to leave him alone and get back on the bus. What do you think they would have said if McCain had said that? Obama doesn’t have to worry about provoking them, the press are Obama’s poodles:

“All right guys, that’s enough,” said Obama, wearing a casual outfit and sunglasses in the early evening.
He and his daughter were walking right toward the media on a public street.
“You got a shot,” he told the photographers. “Leave us alone. Come on, guys.”

I can understand that he didn’t want his daughter’s Halloween ruined by the press but he put himself in this situation and he has to learn to put up with them.

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Oh, honestly, Michele. This is a new low. You say you understand that he didn’t want his daughter’s Halloween ruined but you create an entire post condemning him for making a perfectly reasonable request? Running for President doesn’t mean you surrender every bit of privacy (that’s what the Patriot Act is for, remember?).
Obama has done an excellent job of shielding his children and preventing the media from making a sideshow of them. I’d think you would admire him for being a good father rather than being an opportunistic politician exploiting his daughters’ cuteness. But of course you’re incapable of seeing him in anything but a negative light–that’s a measure of how distorted your vision has become. You need an attitude adjustment in a big way. I suggest you pray about it.

“What do you think they would have said if McCain had said that? ”
Nothing. Because McCain does say things like that. He also kicks media off of his plane without it ending up on Drudge.

Thank you Yelladawg excellent observance of many our americans. Many many need to pray. It just shows how much prejudice we americans have, white against black~black against white when will we just see one another as human beings~ or are we even members of the human race any more? Have some of us become animalistic? Father in Heaven help us, in Jesus name I PRAY.

Isn’t this basically what the McCain campaign said about Sarah Palin and looking in to ANY aspect of her life? The difference is this is a legit family outing where Obama wanted a few hours of privacy, and the Palin/McCain campaign wanted the press to go away completely. I’ve yet to see Michelle complain about the fact that Palin won’t hold a press conference or appear on another nationally televised interview.

Godchilddreams…
Another new one! Michele do have a sitemeter that shows referrals? That would be an interesting read.
At any rate, it is not conservatives here that bring up Obama’s race. We talk about his tax policies, his abortion policies, sometimes his most likely military policies.
If anybody appears (here) to be focused on race, it is liberals.
We don’t like Obama’s policies.
What is funny…which ticket is running folks from multi-racial families on the ticket?
Obama is half-Caucasian – the woman he married is black, the church he attended for 20 years tends toward “Black Liberation Theology” (by the way, if you want racists, read that a little bit). Not that any of this is a problem – well, the Black Liberation Theology is, but the fact that he married into an African-American family and joined an African-American church is not at all.
Both my kids have dated outside our racial “pigeon-hole”. So I understand needing to choose a church based on your family’s needs, not just your own. I work with an African-American youth pastor and have seriously considered attending his church. I feel very welcome there, but it’s the theology that gets in the way.
On the other ticket we have a man who adopted outside his racial heritage and a woman who married outside of hers. In some parts of the country, being Native American is a larger problem than being black (areas surrounding reservations with highways running through them – area residents often complain that driving while white can bring a hefty fine that cannot be appealed because of who is in charge of the tribal court. My niece got a $100 ticket for “failing to use a turn signal when changing lanes’.)
So forgive my for not being impressed with accusations of racism. Unless having a 100% NARAL rating is somehow related to being half African-American. Unless raising taxes on upper income earners is somehow related to being hald African American.
Godchilddreams…Are you voting for Obama because of the color of his skin? Is that the racist reason that you are voting for him?

This is a new low even for you, Michele.
The man took a few hours out of his campaign schedule to take his daughter trick-or-treating for Halloweeen. There’s nothing wrong with him asking for a few moments of privacy with his kids.
Of course, you don’t care about that. You’ll just find anything to smear him with. Asking for a few moments alone with his kids on Halloween means he’s acting like a celebrity? Unbelievable. You’re a real pice of work.

I’ve yet to see Michelle complain about the fact that Palin won’t hold a press conference or appear on another nationally televised interview.
Why would Michele complain about that? Palin is a Republican and is therefore above any scrutiny by the rest of the country, and as a Republican, Palin is also perfect and holy and without sin in Michele’s world. At least that’s the impression this blog gives.

So you didn’t want his daughter’s Halloween ruined … until you did want his daughter’s Halloween ruined.
How much different is that than your hated John Kerry saying “I was for it before I was against it”?

I believe we al can use a little privacy just because your a star or running for office shouldn’t make a difference, but it seems that we are losing site of this election which is to get this counrty back on it’s feet. I find it almost laughable that people even those that do not want to share the wealth and have half a mind would want another 4years of this mess. But I degress for my reasons for being in this conversation, this is the reasons for seperation of church and state. For who are we to judge but god. So if your going to do this please do the research of the issues.
Thank you and god bless all that read this.

Well, thank goodness Obama will have Michelle to give him practical advice, his not knowing anything about the press and all.
On another comment, MzEllen, you are right. I don’t have scientific or organized or official data, but I do know several elderly Democrats who couldn’t stand McCain and couldn’t bear to vote for an African-American, but then became wildly enthused by Palin. And started using the N word in conversation a lot; I am having to drop some of them as friends over that, not their vote.

Being a semi-literate troll?
There’s a life goal…..
The right wing is now in frantic attack mode. They know they have but a short time.
They ran out of ideas years ago- and even worse for them, the public no longer finds the
right wing fantasy world appealing.
It’s almost enough to make you feel sorry for them.
But not quite.

MzEllen: “At any rate, it is not conservatives here that bring up Obama’s race. Just yesterday Michele posted an entry about a smear ad mentioning the “clean and articulate” candidate. We talk about also distort, smear, and lie about his tax policies, his abortion policies, sometimes his most likely military policies. We tend to avoid the whole story and misrepresent Obama’s words and voting record to make McCain look better.

That must be one of those “pride goes before a fall” moments, huh.
Isn’t it ironic that the “clean and articulate” quote comes from your own vice-presidential candidate…
Hey! If you can call Michele a racist for quoting Joe Biden, but you don’t call Joe Biden a racist – what does that make you? (answer: hypocrite)
