I've never been a trekkie and so maybe for that reason the trailer strikes me as highly intriguing.
Prequels is where it's at when characters' actors age "beyond all recognition." Worked for Star Wars.

I grew up a Trekkie, still am. This isn't your daddy's Star Trek, which I think is a good thing. So far, I really like what I see.

I grew up a Trekker, but I am still taken aback by this. It thrills me to pieces to see Star Trek getting this kind of attention.
I am excited about this movie, and I'll definitely be seeing it.

Born in primordial times, I remember watching the original series as a kid. Isn't it amazing how long this phenomenon has lasted?
