ALEX WITT: You know, John, and it's interesting because there are many who had such an optimistic and hopeful opinion of things, and you certainly can't expect things to change [snaps fingers] on a dime overnight, but there are many who suggested that with the outgoing Bush administration and the incoming Obama administration there would be something of a lull in terrorism attacks. There had been such a global outpouring of affection, respect, hope, with the new administration coming in, that precisely these kinds of attacks, it was thought -- at least hoped -- would be dampered down. But in this case it looks like Barack Obama is getting a preview of things to come.Does Witt know anything about terrorism? Doesn't she realize that we were hit by al-Qaeda during the Clinton administration? Doesn't she know about the first attack on the Towers? That had absolutely nothing to do with Bush. Al-Qaeda doesn't care how popular our president is, they only care about how they're going to take us down. They are at war with the American people, not just Bush.
Maybe Witt might want to switch to the entertainment news or the food network. Evidently world news is a little too hard for her to handle.

Obviously if there is one thing poor Alex lacks it is wit.
Michelle, you'd have some valid conclusions if we could be sure that the underlying premise wasn't something made up by newsbusters. I find that "quote" on newsbusters, I don't find it on MSNBC.
Oh, the election of President-elect Obama is just the beginning of a long path to defeat extremism. Its not the end. I'm surprised Witt doesn't think so.
But as long as America has a President who has friends in the Islamic world, through his days in Indonesia, and in his earlier profession as a Professor, I think America will do better in such a fight. You need a president who's an internationalist, to fight an extremist organization that is also internationalist, and one which ignores national borders.
