Why do we have a person who thinks Bronze Age myths should be taken literally anywhere near the president in the first place? I thought Obama was bringing change to Washington. The first change should be to ignore the religious wrong in this country and sweep them into the dustbin of history like the Europeans did decades ago.

I’ve never been particularly comfortable with the unofficial “pastor to the President” (to Washington, really) appointment. Makes me wonder whether Huckabee would have done his own invocation.
(I favored Huckabee because he would have likely done away with a Graham-type influence in the WH – uh, where two or three Baptists are gathered, you know, there’s a pot-luck dinner “in His Name” … or maybe that was Presbyterians … anyway, too many cooks.)

As a gay Presbyterian, I applaud the choice of Rick Warren for the invocation. He and I may not agree on every point of public policy, but at the end of the day he walks a Christlike walk and doesn’t just talk a Christlike talk. It was evangelical Christians who murdered the Jews and other non-Christians in Europe. Hitler was a Christian and the MOST Christian man who ever lived. He roasted millions of people who disagreed with Jesus only because they weren’t Christians and for NO other reason much like Jesus himself supposedly does. Now what human being has ever been more like Jesus Christ than Adolph Hitler may I ask? The Holocaust is Christianity’s finest hour.
