Update #4

posted by Susan Johnson | 7:40pm Thursday January 22, 2009

Sarah here, for the last time. Yes, you shall all be rid of me because my mom is coming home!!!!!! Yea!!! So she was feeling better, obviously, she was eating solid foods, getting up and walking around by herself, and was feeling much stronger. She was off the iv and the doctor said she could come home, so she is tonight. It’ll be great to have her home again. Thank you all for the prayer, it certainly did help, and all the encouragement, it is greatly appreciated. Well before I sign off I thought I’d leave you all with a poem I wrote.
Hate knocked on the door one day,
Little Innocence answered because everyone else was away.
“Hello,” said they. Innocence responded with “hi.”
“May we come in, we won’t do any harm,” they did lie.
Innocence, so naive, allowed them in to come,
Happy for a friend, unaware she would soon become glum.
Anger came too, a big fellow, tough and rude,
He pushed Innocence aside and called her a prude.
In the house of my heart they now did reside,
They were soon joined by Envy, Greed, and Pride.
A party they did have, trashing everything in sight,
Destroying everything with all their might.
Chaos and havoc followed fast,
It increased when Sin arrived last.
If Innocence was before in trouble,
now Innocence was in double.
When all hope seemed gone and away,
And all Innocence could do was pray
In entered Faith, Hope, Joy, and Love
Certainly a gift from above.
They fought the evil six hard and true,
But Sin was too powerful, what were they to do?
Shining like a beacon, burning bright
The Holy Spirit came to fight.
With him at their side, the wonderful six won
They rejoiced as the Holy Spirit burned like the sun.
They banished the evil to the basement, never to return
Hopefully a lesson they did learn.
They cleaned up the house as nice as could be,
At first glance you would never see,
Never see the evil that lurks in your heart and mine.
This is Sarah-the sixteen year old, just to clear everything up- signing off for the last time (hopefully Mom will be back on tomorrow).
God Bless

One Final Word
My dear friend Michele slipped into eternity on Wednesday, February 1.   She was a remarkable woman who left a legacy of faith, determination, and love. For three years she courageously battled the ovarian cancer that eventually robbed her of her life.  A few days before she died, one of her docto

The rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated
My husband told me that there are rumors that I've died. I'm happy to report that I'm still very much alive. My cancer has gone to stage four but we are controlling it with chemo, the cancer numbers are currently in the normal range. I've stopped blogging to concentrate on my daughters and writing a

An update and a prayer request
Several people have asked about Michele's condition, and have promised to pray for her. On her behalf, I thank you for that. I spoke with her a little while ago, and she asked that I come here and tell you what's going on, and to ask you to pray for her. She isn't able to post here herself right

Rest in peace, Internet Monk.
A man known in the cyber world as The Internet Monk, has died. Michael Spencer lost his battle with cancer tonight. My prayers go out for his family and for all those who loved and will miss him. :(

The peace that passes all understanding, pt. 1
I'm coming out of my normal hiding place to make a few comments. The internet is a strange place. It is often a wonderful place, a helpful place, a unifying place. But it is also alienating, cold, and is the perfect medium in which to depersonalize others. Through it, I have seen people reach out

Let this Democrat (who has agreed with your mother once, maybe twice)be the first to wish Michelle godspeed with her recovery. This is good news.

Sarah, you absolutely must not lock your mother in the basement, no matter how evil she is.

Gene,
Your comment is truly evil. You really need to search your heart to see why you would write such a thing. I’ll pray for you.

Oh?
Michelle calls on God to kill Senator Harry Reid and it’s evil for me not to want her locked in her basement? Really?
And if Obama were diagnosed with cancer today, do you think Michelle would be leading in prayers for anything other than his death?
I’ll allow that this experience might change Michelle for the better. We have yet to see that.
In the meantime, I suppose if God’s elect write all these meanspirited, nasty, Satan-inspired things it’s OK because they belong to your church. If anyone holds up a mirror to you, then they are evil. Well, Scooter, I’m just holding up the mirror. If you don’t like what you see, change yourself.

Gene, you logic is as broken as your theology.
If what you say is true, and Michelle’s statements and behaviors are evil, then by duplicating them, you too are evil. Hence, you are no better than she, and have no room to judge.
I’m no fan of Michelle’s politics, religious perspective, or manner, but simply put, if you are absolutely incapable of feeling for a young woman struck with cancer, and in fact mock her in full view of her children, you are simply one sick tool of a human being, and it matters not the least what your “opponent” looks like.
The only thing this particular mirror reflects is your own heartless, spiteful hatred. And all you do by displaying it is make even those of us who disagree with, or even dislike, Michelle, pray harder for her recovery.
In this way, God turns evil into good.

I too am drawn to make a comment here.
It seems that both Gene and his or her detractors suffer from a reactive mindset. Gene finds Michelle obnoxious and is obnoxious himself. Others find Gene obnoxious and then pray for their own will to be done.
Perhaps it is in some way God’s will that this terrible cancer should come to Michelle. Perhaps it has nothing to do with her attitudes, but there is someone she could reach in the hospital, some sweetness in the day she would not know without the terrible experience to make her open to it, we simply do not know. I am not for praying for Michelle’s recovery. I am praying she will be blessed.
As for those who detract from Gene, I can’t see he is any more spiteful than Michelle, and it strikes me as strange that it’s OK for Michelle to make dozens of posts in the same spirit Gene cannot show in a few comments. But there is simply a higher road to take.

I too am drawn to make a comment.
It seems to me that Gene and his or her detractors make the same kind of mistake. Gene finds Michelle’s unchristian tone offensive and is offensive himself or herself. (For all we know, Gene is an atheist or adheres to some other religion, so shaming may not work.) The people who react to Gene seem to think they know better than God what is good for Michelle.
Indeed, God may be using this cancer, horrible as it is, to open Michelle’s life to receive a greater blessing or to be a greater blessing. I wouldn’t pray just that she recover, although that would be a good thing. I pray that she should be maximally blessed.
But Gene is right, a lot of Christians do sound just like Gene when the subject isn’t one of their own. He or she is right, it’s a mirror held up. It’s simply more important to pray for Michelle’s best than to wag a finger at the finger wagger at the finger wagger.

Boris says they’re both insane. The whole idea of a God who interferes in such details of the lives of individuals is an insane superstition as is the superstition that there’s really a God who we can call upon telepathically. I fear these two are telling children to believe this crap.

Boris, by showing your inability to even extend the smallest secular humanist goodwill toward Michelle in this trying time, you reveal yourself to be a petty, pathetic troll who has no character. There’s a word for people who take pleasure in the misfortunes of others: “sociopath”. Torture any animals lately?
Keep it up, I’m sure any agnostics reading your posts will just flee atheism all the more quickly.

What good will has Michelle shown to me, other free thinkers, atheists, skeptics, liberal Christians or other non-believers? What goes around comes around. I don’t owe Michelle anything. I don’t wish her any harm. It is VERY hypocritical for someone like her who claims not to believe in evolution or any other modern science to run to the “evolutionists” to get cured when she gets sick. Luke 9 clearly implies that demons cause diseases and it is authority that cures disease and NOT human knowledge. In fact human wisdom is knowledge is portrayed as worthless now isn’t it? But the next time you get sick YOU’LL come running to the “evolutionists” too. But if both you and Michelle were true Bible believers then you would be seeing Todd Bentley or Benny Hinn for your cures and not the “evolutionists.”

I have a poem to share also
Today some say that Jesus died,
And still remains quite dead
But those who speak have surely lied
The real truth is, instead
That Jesus Christ, Wose blood was spilled,
Is no corpse, I insist!
For hos could someone have been killed,
Who never did exist

Sarah,
Thanks again for the updates. It’s great to hear how well your mom is doing, and like you I look forward to her return here (but more importantly, her return to full health).
As for your poetry, keep writing! What you posted is nice, and you definitely have a knack for writing. Thanks for sharing it with us.
