“Mark Standford Mistress Photo”

posted by Susan Johnson

Apparently, everyone wants to know what she looks like (as of this post, that phrase is number 3 on Google trends). I guess it’s really a bummer for the googlers that you only get Standford’s picture when you Google images with that phrase. And even more of a bummer when the best you get from googling the news is a picture of her apartment building!
Fox News is reporting that she’s a beautiful brunette with big eyes. I guess we’ll have to take their word for it until the picture inevitably (you know the press is camped out waiting for her) turns up and when it does, I’ll post a link :-)
(via)
And The Daily News may look like they have the photo but they don’t (very slick move posting a photo of the brunette prostitute in the Elliot Spitzer scandal).
BTW, I haven’t commented on this story because it’s becoming like a dog bites man story for Republicans to cheat on their wives. Why bother repeating what I said when Ensign did it.
The only thing I’ll add is that any other Republican who does not want to be humiliated in this way should end his/her affair now because the media will out you. Adulterous Democrats they’ll protect (how long did they know about Edwards before they published anything?) for as long as they can but Republicans will be outed. Get used to it. Live above reproach or start talking about how the Republicans can’t be the arbiters of morality (that would be my choice).
Now, here’s the most interesting question of this scandal: who sent Standford’s private emails to the press?
Update: A photo of another kind (but still in the adulterous politician category).
(via)
Updated again: Conservatives dump Standford as their choice for 2012.

“I think Governor Sanford needs to go crawl into a very dark hole where no one can see him or hear him and rehabilitate himself.” Erickson said in an email, ” In two years, when the country remains in the gutter, he’ll be able to rehabilitate himself.” Erickson was less worried, though, about potential blowback from Sanford’s scandal onto his supporters, because “the left will ignore his actual record and portray him as some sort of stalwart for Christianity and social values.”

Maybe the campaign theme in 2012 could be: King David was a man after God’s own heart and even he was an adulterer and it didn’t effect his reign. I’m sure the electorate is so illiterate they wouldn’t know the rest of the story. Maybe by then the electorate will have had their fill of Obama’s perfection.
Updated yet again: The link to Google Images is not showing what I saw when I wrote this post. Before the search engine prioritized “Mark Stanford” and now it’s prioritizing “Mistress.”
Updated one last time (maybe): The googling public is now more informed, “”maria belen shapur photo” is the number search phrase according to Google trends.
Updated to fix the stupid title! I’m blaming the misspelling of Sandford’s name on chemo. It can be the scapegoat for a couple more weeks then I’ll have to go back to old age.

He wasn’t outed. He went to Argentina for five days while lying to the people of South Carolina so he could spend Father’s Day with his mistress. Larry Craig wasn’t outed. He was arrested. John Ensign wasn’t outed; he was protecting his career.
Spitzer was outed by the press. McGreevey was being outed by the press. Edwards was outed by the press; he just took awhile to confess.

Evidently, you don’t know the whole story. A reporter found his car at the airport and questioned him about it. Standard knew the story was coming.

I wonder if it is good news or bad news that Gov. Sanford gets his name spelled wrong so often or that the financial con man R. Allen Stanford was indicted at the end of last week.
The reporter caught him returning from Argentina. At that point he decided to quit lying. I wonder who sent the e-mails over to The State? It could be any number of Republicans who hate his grandstanding, his wife, his father-in-law, maybe one of the boys? Keep tuned.

Turns out the State News had the emails for six months. So much for Republicans being outed.
Being outed suggests reporting the story when there is no overriding public interest. Taking off for another continent while the entire state doesn’t know where you are seems like an overriding public interest.

The real problem I see is the rampant hypocrisy from those on the right. They scream about same-sex marriage being the ruination of the traditional family and all the while so many, it seems, are having affairs and destroying their own family without the help of any gay or lesbian person.
Oh and by the way, I’ve been in a partnered monogamous relationship to a wonderful guy for 24 years. Never felt the need to tap out my desires in a public restroom (think, Larry) or hire an escort and do a little crystal (think, Ted) or run off to Argentina to secretly rondevu with a mistress (think, Mark).
Seriously, this is getting old. How many more family values people have to be “outed” or “found out” before we realize that their fight for morality is full of hot air.

So why didn’t the MSM report on Edwards affair after he was outed by the National Enquirer?

Because all they had was the National Enquirer, a newspaper that pays for news. And John Edwards was a private citizen once the story broke.
Or lefties who didn’t want a fiscal conservative going up against tax and deficit spending Obama in 2012.
ROFL. Did the “lefties” force him to start bedding the woman in Argentina? Did the “lefties” convince him to spend Father’s Day with his mistress? Did the “lefties” trick him into deceiving the people of South Carolina about his whereabouts? All because they don’t want a fiscal conservative who cheats on his wife, lies to his constituents, and is an adulterer?

What a non sequitur you got there. We were discussing who would send private emails, not what the governor did. This doesn’t have bearing on whether lefties dug until they found dirt which is the point of what I said in my post.
BTW, if you think I’m defending him then you need to reread my post and previous post on Ensign.

I didn’t get that from your article. Sorry about that. I thought you were mainly trying to voice your opinion that there is a double standard in reporting moral failings by the media. Glad we agree :-) .

Given the limited number of people with access to his email, seems likely it was a state employee or his family or a friend of his wife. The idea that political opponents were able to access his email is goofy.
You need to work out another conspiracy theory on this one.

If you didn’t read what I said about Ensign, then you might not realize that I’m total against the whole moral values thing (I’m convinced that no politician can ever live beyond reproach — I can say that with such conviction because I know that no one can live beyond reproach Romans 3:9-11). Though, this also should have been a tip off:

I don’t think adultery it is a Republican vs Democrat thing. These cases are powerful men who are very narcissistic and believe they can do and have it all without consequences until they get caught, then they become conveniently remorseful. The more pious the adulterer, the juicer headline which results in the prying public craving more information. Republicans by far are more pious then Democrats, so let’s not be surprised that a basically-unknown-to-most-until-yesterday Governor who touts family values is castrated by the media for going awol, having an exotic lover in another country and running off to her on of all days, Father’s Day, leaving his family and dutiful wife behind. You can’t make up this stuff.

Well, I’m not predestined to be a conservative (I realized recently I wasn’t one when it related to social issues (except abortion) and that, evidently, kicks me out of the club), so agreeing with me doesn’t make you one. I’d say I was more a libertarian than a conservative.

I would contend that a pious husband who kept talking about the love he had for his wife who had cancer and then turned out to be an adulterer how fathered a child is as much a target as Sandford. In fact even more so since he was well know and ran for president.

Maybe it’s something in the Carolina water, Michele. I’m not aware of anyone who gave John Edwards a pass when the news broke that he had been quite a jerk. His behavior was every bit as sleazy as Newt Gingrich’s and no one gave him a pass, either. At least Eliot Spitzer had the good grace to resign, even if he did insist on dragging his wife up on stage.
The public piety of the self-righteous even grated on Jesus, so it’s not a surprise that some of these folks will turn out to be the ‘whited sepulchres’ that He spoke of.
